The best person I’ll ever know.

URGENT: The folks at Americans for Financial Reform are looking for stories from people who’ve been helped by CFPB. Please read this call to action and share far and wide! 🚨 Let’s save CFPB 🚨 Pass it on.

Assuming the law still exists and all that, this is a good job alert. The Public Interest Law Center, Philly and Pa’s Mighty Mouse of a civil rights law firm, is hiring an experienced civil rights attorney. Work with me. Help make our little piece of the world better.

SKEET THREAD: There’s a lot I could say about this argument, but since in the end it all boils down to this paragraph, let me just address this.

McMahon goes on record saying private schools funded by taxpayer vouchers—including a federal voucher scheme—do and should have the right to turn children away if those children don’t fit those private schools’ needs. It’s not parent choice. It’s the school’s choice.

Been helped by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau? We need YOU! I work for Americans for Financial Reform, formed to create CFPB, working closely with Elizabeth Warren. (See link for info) Your stories are POWER & we'd like to hear them! Reply if you're interested. I'll be in touch.

Penn State has halted submission and *acceptance* of NIH grants pending the resolution of the overhead rate cut. This lost time will never be recovered. The economic cost to Pennsylvania is enormous and the cost to humanity immeasurable.

How much funding would public schools in your state lose if Title I programs were cut? Use ELC's new advocacy tool to explore the impact of potential federal revenue losses. edlawcenter.org/research/tru...

Go. Birds.

If I thought more, could probably think of something earlier, but this one immediately springs to mind. youtu.be/T9CZ5jY7X4k?...

“I understand why the leaders of these institutions are cowering in fear–university presidents remaining silent in the face of the threat, media companies paying millions to settle bogus lawsuits–but these leaders need to stand strong to defend their institutions. Our democracy depends on it.”

Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania has indirect rate of 70%, but they probably didn’t want to list that atop Harvard because defunding a children’s hospital might be perceived as problematic. This is devastating

Utter embarrassment. www.thedp.com/article/2025...

The first visual of the Trump presidency at the border; a sobbing woman in Ciudad Juárez stands outside the Paso Del Norte port of entry, clutching a pole as she weeps having learned that her 1:00PM appointment for a chance to seek asylum in the US has been cancelled. x.com/arelisrhdz/s...

Eagles vs Rams: NFC Divisional Playoff The Merrill and Mike Thread 1. JALEN HURTS 45-YARD TOUCHDOWN!

Wholesome content, go Birds.

Excellent.

Too long to wait

Market Street needs what makes the other vibrant parts of Center City thrive: foot traffic from housing. There is no reason to expect that thoughtful housing development to come from the Sixers and Comcast.

How long has it been since we filed Pa’s school funding lawsuit? This long. keystonenewsroom.com/2025/01/14/e...

TFW @danua.bsky.social and I come visit Harrisburg

You cannot defeat your opposition by becoming them.

Whatever ends up happening with the Sixers arena the one thing I'll always remember is how much time, resources, and energy the city and its residents were forced to put into this when it could've been focusing so many more important things

From the time of the Jeff Brown debacle — and perhaps earlier — one of the most convincing arguments against 76 Place was that the ppl proposing it could not be trusted. Today’s reversal is the perfect example.

Totally agree. Too often, American culture loses sight of the "magic" of childhood in favor of programming, predicability, and consumerism.

“When you feel your resolve flagging, look at your children, your young cousin, your niece, or nephew and ask yourself if you are too intimidated to protect their future. If the answer is no, then act like it.” -the incredibly smart @sifill.bsky.social, worth your time.

I tried to call in a bike accident like 15 years ago, and encountered this exact problem, despite me being able to give anyone with the most basic knowledge of Philly a precise description of the location. I cannot believe it is still happening.

omg a student somehow accidentally wrote an email addressed to a faculty-wide NYU listserv and my inbox is now a master class on who understands the difference between a listserv and an email chain

Money matters in education because money means hiring skilled professionals. This is just the start in Pennsylvania.

If you are a Philly sports fan (so, 55 percent of BlueSky), Nick meaningfully improves your life. Throw him a few dollars @nickpiccone.

A public official repeatedly accused a Lancaster local newspaper of lying. But when reporter @tommylisi.bsky.social decided to break tradition of not engaging with the constant attacks and asked the official why he doesn’t just take them to court, the official suddenly didn’t have an answer.

Joel Embiid being ejected is going to distract everyone from Drummond being ejected, overturned to a flopping call, maxey making the free throw, then the refs saying there’s no flopping or ejection so take away the point from Maxey and just resume play… which has never been done before in the NBA 😂

Go Birds.
