wearing sunglasses inside and following an event where he at times had a hard time speaking coherently, Elon Musk walks off the CPAC stage waving around a chain saw. this is the guy currently running our government. Congrats, America!

I will use every tool at my disposal to protect this country from Trump. I will litigate to defend voting rights until there are no cases left to bring. I will speak out against authoritarianism until my last breath. I will not back down. I will not bow or scrape. I will never obey.

Murdoch’s New York Post today. #ukraine🇺🇦

The central core of Trumpism is voter suppression and election subversion. Too many people only pay attention to this right before elections and forget it once elections are over. We must take this threat literally and seriously if we want to have free and fair elections in the future.

With a president violating the law again & again, Americans must step up Courts, media, & civil society have to push back—and so far they are! Read more in our Democracy Playbook 2025👇 www.brookings.edu/articles/dem...

Really thankful to all of the scientists who made themselves available to talk to me about the unprecedented situation at NIH. I've never had so many people reach out to me for a story like this. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

President Trump is expected to sign 3 executive orders today that would reshape the military, including banning transgender service members, gutting DEI programs, & reinstating service members with backpay who were discharged during COVID vaccine mandate www.cnn.com/2025/01/27/p...

All D senators — except Fetterman — sponsor resolution condemning pardons for those who assault led Capitol Police on Jan. 6.

This is a remarkable clip. C-Span stuck with the angle facing the President. Trump glances down at his paper, JD Vance looking around trying to engage with Usha. She ignores him and watches the sermon intently. www.c-span.org/clip/white-h...

Don’t let Trump’s flurry of executive orders overshadow his effort to rewrite history by pardoning Jan 6 attackers. They were not “hostages.” They are criminals convicted of committing political violence after receiving due process in court. https://buff.ly/4hqvnPx

View on my last visit to Sherrod’s Senate office in Washington. So much change was coming for our country. But I heard our grandchildren’s laughter nearby and felt the hope in that. Life is never one thing. We are in this together, friends & kind strangers. Knowing that gives me so much strength.

I loved and admired this woman. She was one I would follow into battle. A true fighter and ally in every way. God bless you Cecile Richards. Rest in Peace and Power. www.cnn.com/2025/01/20/u...

If President Trump can remain completely sober while sexually abusing women, then that's the least we can ask of Pete Hegseth.

If we couldn’t do it for the country we can at least try to do it here

Why isn’t the media harping on the fact that Trump won with the smallest margin in a quarter century and got less than half the vote? This should be a 24/7 news story. Are they afraid of Donald, or complicit?

Please remember there are billionaires spending money on outrage media to make you mad at federal civil servants instead of the Supreme Court they bought. Please save your outrage for the actual fascists.

I'm tired of this already. Tacky.

Revolting mob rule, Stalinist, Maoist, fascist, call it what you want, it is disgusting, with the power of the state and social media to mobilize the US version of China's Red Guard to target civil servants, professionals doing their job. Gift article. Please repost. www.wsj.com/tech/musk-un...

Good news and bad and questionable. Pam Bondi? Can the Blue States protect us from Trump’s worst? What’s future if NY & GA cases against Trump? Here’s #SistersInLaw’s take on it all and answers to your questions. Listen wherever you get your podcasts.

'Death knell' Ex-prosecutor Joyce Vance highlights 'absolute disqualifier' for Pam Bondi, "a 2020 election denier with a long track record. That should be a death knell for any nomination to be attorney general" joycevance.substack.com/p/gaetz-out

Joyce Vance is right. The time to pick ourselves up and move forward again is now: "We are headed into a holiday week, and folks are still weary and demoralized from the election. But it’s time. It’s time to reengage and decide what role we’re going to play. 1/2 open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

I’m old enough to remember there was some lady (I think she was like Black and Indian or something) who told us he was gonna do this and it would be bad

Someone should introduce a resolution banning fake boobs from Capitol restrooms

Politics 101: Recess Appointments

Carol Moseley Braun was the first Black woman elected to the Senate in 1993. Jesse Helms once followed her into the Senate elevator singing "Dixie." He told fellow Senator Orrin Hatch, "I'm going to sing Dixie until she cries." Thinking about that today. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Once you realize that Trump isn’t nominating cabinet members to RUN agencies but DESTROY them, it makes more sense.

If you're a Veteran and you get your healthcare from the VA, please make appointments with your PCP and specialists before January 20th, and make sure to update all your vaccines and order your meds.

You don’t bury an ethics report that would exonerate Trump’s pick. You don’t skip FBI background checks unless his nominees have something to hide. See what they’re doing? Please tell me you see what they’re doing.

This is not a mandate, sure he won the popular vote but it’s not a mandate.

Each of Trump's proposed appointments is a surprise. It is comforting to think that he is simply a vengeful old man, lashing out. This is unlikely. He and Musk and Putin have been talking for years. And the whole idea was that this time he had a plan. snyder.substack.com/p/decapitati...

Word of the Day, should you need it, is ‘latibulate’, a 17th-century verb meaning to find a corner somewhere and hide in it.
