Contact Bill Cassidy. Tell him that if he values science at all, vote against RFK Jr. for director of HHS.

Everyone concerned about data loss right now should learn about the End of Term Web Archive, which I believe has been working on preserving federal websites for the past 8 months. The dataset you fear has been lost may well be here Just an incredible project. Thank you to everyone involved

This clown actually thinks that giving the proceeds of the Gardasil lawsuits to his son...HIS SON...frees him of any ethics problems. That in and of itself is disqualifying! www.nytimes.com/2025/01/31/h...

Trump signed an executive order today withdrawing fed funds from schools teaching Critical Race Theory, the 1619 Project and "radical gender ideology." Tomorrow's CRT lesson (critique of colorblindness) would be grounds to pull funding if it were taught in a high school. shorturl.at/qpVc1

Wow, that was fast. Score Democracy and the Constitution 1, Dark Side 0. But this was super low-hanging fruit. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/01...

Twenty-two states sue to strike down Trump's silly EO disallowing the constitutionally-guaranteed birthright citizenship. I would give the drafters of this EO an F- in constitutional interpretation. apnews.com/article/birt...

Democracy Docket fighting back.

Not to mention the idea that a president could with the stroke of a pen end birthright citizenship, which is constitutionally guaranteed. All this is for show, I imagine. Constitution be damned!

Tik Tok, time's up. The idea that a president can sign an executive order to delay or refuse to enforce a federal law, after the law has already gone into effect, is outrageous. Tom Cotton, do you need some lawyers?

What if no one showed up? A girl can dream.

Yikes.

Trans folks held a dance party in the Capitol bathroom to protest the bathroom ban on there.

this is @rewirenewsgroup.com’s guide on how to protect your access to birth control, medication abortion, & emergency contraception during the next Trump administration. we also cover how to maintain digital privacy and how to talk to your medical provider rewirenewsgroup.com/2024/12/16/h...

President-elect Donald Trump called on congressional Republicans to agree to recess appointments in the Senate if they seek a leadership position. Here's why this is dangerous for democracy.

Vivek is literally an unelected federal bureaucrat.

Read this story - which is bonkers in places - about Patel from my colleague @epcalabro.bsky.social www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...

“In March 2020, for example, Dr. Bhattacharya suggested in a Wall Street Journal opinion essay that the pandemic was not as deadly as it was being made out to be, and that the death toll might top out at 40,000 Americans; in the end, 1.2 million died.” www.nytimes.com/2024/11/26/u...

I find it strange but predictable that the focus of this NYT article isn't that Cormac McCarthy exploited a 16 year old girl but the debate re how much she influenced his writing. Yes, the piece suggests he exploited her, but only to wonder at length how much his audience would hold it against him.

University of Southern California is under total lockdown--fenced off, ID checks--a real fortress. The lockdown is consistent with Provost Andrew Guzman's choice to use police-style tactics to handle non-violent protest last year. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/25/u...

Shocked I tell you. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/20/t...

NEW: Private schools across the South that were established for white children during desegregation are now benefiting from tens of millions in taxpayer dollars flowing from rapidly expanding voucher-style programs, a @propublica analysis found. www.propublica.org/article/segr...

What we already knew but can now prove. Elite students still dominate higher education; working-class and poor students are still very much in the minority; and nothing we've tried on this front has made much of a difference. Significant study. seperez.faculty.ucdavis.edu/wp-content/u...

‘Our bodies, our choice’ applies not just to fetuses, but also to decisions around health care, whether it’s getting vaccinated or what foods you consume.” Gov. Polis gets an "F" on infectious disease. He's shamelessly chasing RFK because his fans are Polis's constituency. What a disaster.

after reading this, a friend wrote to remind me that judges only get protection through the marshals office, run out of DOJ, so AG Matt Gaetz will decide whether federal judges get protection from the tsunami of threats they face when they say something unpopular... slate.com/news-and-pol...
