Behold, a pre-combine Ask The Old Guy, in which we discuss what happens in Indy, the Hall of Fame and other Halls, expectations, the value of Shaq Thompson and the communal experience, JJ Jansen's steel-trap memory, and of course, Soundgarden's "Badmotorfinger." www.panthers.com/news/ask-the...

Football contracts come and go. Being a Friend Of The Mailbag is forever.

Panthers thank Shaq Thompson for 10 years of service, inform him they're moving in another direction. www.panthers.com/news/shaq-th...

Mike stares into the abyss of draft coverage, and finds it staring right back. Football insight, plus philosophy.

The easiest trip to pack for every year.

Just looked up Indianapolis weather as I begin to pack for the combine. Then I remembered: What difference does it make? You spend the whole week indoors. There's just regular cold, and wet cold there in February, but it only matters when walking to my favorite secret bar that crowds don't go to.

The Panthers CB room will look different next year, but after the way they turned it over last season, that's not necessarily a surprise. Mike Jackson's a free agent, after playing nearly every snap last year, and Jaycee Horn's in line for a long-term deal. www.panthers.com/news/carolin...

Takes too hot for the other place: O, Canada is a superior song to the Star Spangled Banner. Now, those two renditions at the hockey thing might not back up that thesis, but isolating for just the song, it remains true. Patriotism doesn't exclude the possibility of or obligation for dissent.

Coming soon.

There are a number of reasons the Panthers wanted to keep Andy Dalton. His artistic ability, or intense interest in improving his special teams skills aren't necessarily at the top of the list. But they are indicative of the larger point. www.panthers.com/news/for-and...

Our wizards tell me that our Mailbag submission form is down at the moment. So if you have any questions for me (or for America's long snapper, JJ Jansen, how's that for a tease), please use this one instead. carolinapanthers.formstack.com/forms/ask_th...

News on a Tuesday. www.panthers.com/news/quarter...

In honor of JJ Jansen signing yet another one-year deal, here's a look at the Rosetta Stone of Panthers history — the paperwork on his 2009 trade from Packers.

The classics, they never go out of style.

Nothing says love like JJ Jansen re-signing with the Panthers for a 17th season. www.panthers.com/news/jj-jans...

I normally don't take my Christmas tree down until after the Super Bowl. Today I mowed the yard instead.

Watching Bryce Young navigate Radio Row at the Super Bowl was a little like watching him play football the second half of the season. He looked more comfortable, and more in control of his surroundings. www.panthers.com/news/at-supe...

For Luke Kuechly and Steve Smith, the call from the Hall of Fame feels inevitable. But like all finalists, their wait is longer now. With reaction from Kuechly, and Jared Allen's advice to his former teammate on having to wait (and why it's not the worst thing). www.panthers.com/news/for-luk...

Jared Allen wasn't in Carolina long. But he remembered the "joy" he felt being a part of a 15-1 team in his final season. The new Hall of Famer recalled a fun, if not painful final year of his playing career. www.panthers.com/news/hall-of...

Diappointing night for Luke Kuechly, as he did not make the Hall of Fame. But because he was so close, he's an automatic finalist in 2026. www.panthers.com/news/no-hall...

Yes, Adam Thielen is coming back next season. But he also mentioned how close he was to retiring, and why Bryce Young and the trajectory the Panthers are on was a big part of why he's returning for a 12th season. www.panthers.com/news/for-ada...

Just three Panthers legends hanging out.

It's supposed to be hard to get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. And it is. But a rules change this year could limit the class, and complicate the chances of all the finalists, including Luke Kuechly and Steve Smith. www.panthers.com/news/chances...

If you got this tag on your door last week, leave a bag outside for the Scouts to pick up today during Scouting For Food. You can also text SCOUT4FOOD to 44321 to donate. All proceeds benefit NourishUp, helping to feed our neighbors in the Charlotte community.

Behold, the end of Dry January (for some) edition of Ask The Old Guy, in which we discuss the benefit of stability, offseason priorities, Jaycee Horn's place in the universe, draft euphemisms, alternate helmets, schedules, and of course, Vivaldi and Sir-Mix-A-Lot. www.panthers.com/news/ask-the...

Cam Newton always has been, and remains, great at two things: - Playing football - Making certain segments of the population uncomfortable #CNMPS

This is normally a 30-minute show, but when America's Long Snapper JJ Jansen is on we go OT. Hear the longest-serving Panther on tweeting through it with Greg Olsen, Luke Kuechly as a babysitter, hockey, analytics, Bryce Young's nickname, sense of humor, and more. www.panthers.com/audio/happy-...

Panthers G Robert Hunt named to Pro Bowl games, replacing Eagles G Landon Dickerson. First time they've had two in the event since 2021, as he joins Jaycee Horn. With complete list of all-time Panthers Pro Bowlers. www.panthers.com/news/robert-...

We’ve never seen a run-pass threat with the kind of size Josh Allen has.

Find you somebody who looks at you the way Mike looks at an individual drill at a college all-star practice.

Former Panthers CB Captain Munnerlyn admitted being "depressed" and "lost" in retirement. But after finding the structure he craved in coaching, he wants to share with a new generation, as the new coach at Julius Chambers High School. Oh, and he wants to win now. www.panthers.com/news/captain...

Panthers add two more to future contracts, including outside linebacker Boogie Basham. www.panthers.com/news/panther...

The idea that there are no more living members of The Band is hard to process. For my money, it's the greatest American band of all time, even though only one of them was American. That's how American Levon Helm was.
