Now that wired audio is coming to AirPods Max I think they’re fine for mixing. I wouldn’t use them exclusively but definitely for Spatial Audio if I wanted that. I mean, smoke ‘em if you got ‘em, right?

Announce nothing, show up unexpected. This is how you avoid looking like a fool for 3 years straight. If only I could send a courier back in time to let me know

This upgrade means way lower latency recording and hopefully a good decade worth of music from this new machine. Maybe I’ll give a little review if it turns into a game changer for my productions

Modern indie is to me the spiritual successor to grunge. Not since the 90s have we had such an authentic, unique sound and most of it is driven by women musicians this time. The 20 year musical dry spell is over I think.

Does this not make sense or did no one see or remember Independence Day 2?

Anyone like to read? Been writing a book. Could use an editor. Will not use AI, only a person can do it.

The thing about Independence Day 2 that doesn’t make sense is that they put the big laser on the moon. So if I were an alien invading, I’d just attack earth from the other side of the earth.

Logic on the iPad is real easy to get started with but there’s a ton of little settings that’ll trip you right up. Just exported my first song and half the tracks aren’t routed to the main output for no reason so it sounds like random slices of a song mixed together

I am the Operator now. Let’s see if we can finish what’s been started here. Shooting for FAWM

Wow, it’s been almost 3 years since my last release now. Oh well, I’m enjoying life. Hopefully you all enjoy whatever I put out whenever it comes out. I’m working on an electronic thing right now. Really different than my usual stuff

FAWM begins today. It’s gonna be a difficult one this year as I try to write a book and push out a record at once.

I’m not saying it’s likely but tomorrow may be the last time we witness the inauguration of a new, legitimate president for a long time. It’s firmly within the realm of possibility now. No longer hyperbole.

It’s not too late to participate in JAMuary where you jam on (primarily) electronic instruments and put out songs. It’s halfway through but there’s enough time to put together a little EP. Apparently there’s an official(?) site? www.jonathanmann.net/jamuary

I’m paying more to let people stream my music than I get paid from the streams. On all streaming services. And that’s alright. I’m just hoping someone enjoys my music regardless of the economics.

Hell boi the Christmas loaf

Hey Bluesky - I’m The Darph. I make experimental ambient music like you’ve never heard before. Check my bio for links. I also have a more indie-rock style project with @moss.secondstoryrecords.com under the label @secondstoryrecords.com …PIN!

bsky:

The synths are set up. The tape decks, 4 tracks, and reel to reel is ready. - I don’t know how I’ll be recording any guitar (if I do at all) - I’m avoiding computers but may have to make an exception for an iPad. At least it’s in the spirit of the “portable”/simple vibe I’m going for

Always envied these synth guys who can improv like that. I’m over here sequencing and arranging each little bit then performing it later. You gotta be an octopus to be able to run that many machines at once live

I’ve always wanted to make a dark image like this to use as album art or just image material to go along with a release

That said, maybe I can take what I do have and package it up with unrelated stuff from my other projects. People like all sorts of bad music (Linkin Park & Beyoncé’s midlife country crisis come to mind)

I don’t have much unreleased material. I like to think I see things through and polish them till they’re really done but it might be I just don’t filter the crap out.

Operator - the next album - will be totally computer/DAW-free. Everything will go through a mixer and be recorded direct to tape on this gem I found in an antique shop.

Work is starting on “Operator”, a dark, introspective, atmospheric instrumental album. Mechanical decay. Recording starts as soon as mastering on the new Moss records are finished.

Making the best of these darkest days of the year by prepping for a very different kind of DAWless LP that I haven’t seen anyone try before.
