Remembering record label owner, TV presenter, nightclub manager and music impresario Tony Wilson (1950-2007), born #OTD in Pendleton, Salford. Nicknamed ‘Mr Manchester’ for his work in promoting the city’s culture. (Mural by Akse).

Happy to see that my friend @filipformalik.bsky.social has joined us here on Bluesky! Everyone who is interested in porous materials, CO2 capture, #compchem, and related topics should follow him asap.

Join us for the next #IASWebinar by Roberto Mennitto on structured sorbents. Time: February 26, 1400 UTC YouTube: bit.ly/iasyoutube

HOT RESEARCH NEWS! Motonormativity ("car brain") is a bias that stops people making rational judgements about driving en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motonor... Our new study shows where this bias comes from AND how it makes people think they're odd for supporting changes to the transport system 🧵

Phase Transformations in MOFs Induced by Adsorbate Exchange, our latest work on the MIL-53 MOF family now out in Langmuir! An analytical model to describe binary coadsorption in flexible materials. #chemsky #compchem pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...

Can we take a moment to discuss why the ACS Green Chemistry and Engineering Conference session topics are so hyper specific? "Polyesters containing an even number of carbons synthesized on the third Sunday of odd-numbered months" #chemsky

Many of the most influential researchers worldwide in scientific fields, including chemistry, are achieving ‘implausibly high’ publication rates - producing hundreds of papers each year and gaining hundreds to thousands of new collaborators annually. www.chemistryworld.com/news/among-w...

My new #preprint looks at the role of octahedral aluminium sites in #zeolites on adsorption of the anticancer drug 5-fluorouracil. #DFT shows that 5-FU strongly binds to those sites. The bonds do not break in the presence of water, reducing the amount of 5-FU available for #drugdelivery. #compchem

Our colleague Tomislav Friscic in full flow for his inaugural lecture at @uobchemistry.bsky.social. A fantastic evening hearing about his journey as a chemist.

Just out: Women in chemistry: Q&A with Professor Valeska Ting

Nothing makes me feel as valued as a researcher as getting an email that starts with "Dear Valued Researcher".

This fantastic article from Aurora J. Cruz-Cabeza explores her route to chemistry, predictions for the future of the field, & her tips to include and support women scientists. #Chemistry #Crystallography #WomenInChemistry

A homeopath being among roles on the UK skilled worker visa list just shows the government is now pandering to the 0.00000000000000000000001% (Sorry.)

Should've done it years ago...

did flavor flav write this

I thought this may have resulted in a response that would've shown my assumption to be incorrect, but I'm guessing just not many people saw it (for whatever reason).

I have not seen a crisis of this magnitude since yesterday

Out now from the group of @nchampness.bsky.social in Advanced Materials a review covering Supramolecular Chemistry in Metal-Organic Framework Materials doi.org/10.1002/adma...

"Tutorial review on catalyst characterization and materials preparation for x-ray powder diffraction analysis" This looks like it could be well worth a look, if you are new to XRD, or if you have students or colleagues who are new to it too. Note that it includes a section on MOFs! #ChemSky

Delighted that our article on safety and reproducibility of autoclave nanoparticle synthesis is published in CommsChem #openaccess #chemsky #nanomaterials www.nature.com/articles/s42...

If this really happens it will be a catastrophe for science in the USA arstechnica.com/science/2025...

Early career scientist looking to move abroad to the UK for a couple years should look into this excellent opportunity. Deadline is 18 March. 🧪 I'm happy to help develop projects with photosynthesis researchers to come to Lancaster University. Contact me directly, if interested.
