e-tangata.co.nz/comment-and-... Strong wise words from Sir Collin Tukuitonga exposing the dangerous ideological actions of our current government.

Decades of underinvestment in health got us here. The system is breaking—underfunding, burnout, soaring living costs, and GP waitlists out of control. The biggest failure? The govt won’t train the health staff we need. Future planning. No more excuses—make health education free now. #NZPol #Health

A must read for Tangata tiriti imo. We all need to ask ourselves some hard questions. We also need to “hope”. “When award-winning journalist and author Rebecca Macfie began a new project to explore poverty in Aotearoa, she first had to ask herself some hard questions.” #nzpol

Terrifying and unnecessary 😢 Trans people are people.

“The Ngāi Tahu story is instructive for us as a country, because it’s a vivid reminder that the unchecked momentum of blind political, economic, and social forces can lead us to forget our obligations to one another, and our honour.” 💯 ❤️🤍🖤✊

Amazing what a difference in language makes. Haven’t seen any NZ media bringing this perspective either…

Wow. 🔥🔥🔥 This new bombshell Oxfam report is exactly what billionaires don’t want us to know: Apparently 60% of global billionaire wealth comes not from entrepreneurship… …but from inheritance, corruption, cronyism & monopolies. Share the truth:

I am absolutely delighted to have the No 1 most read article at the AIMN for 2024. Particular thanks to #NZpol for the interest. The #AtlasNetwork is more obvious in our small countries compared to complex scenes in Global North proper. Easier to watch in action. #Auspol theaimn.com/new-zealand-...

Ummm, so now The Post can’t even tell the difference between Christophers…?

WTAF! This is an astoundingly poor choice of words, even by Luxon’s abysmal standards

To those in power, treat others with dignity "Apparently, after two years of consultation with employer and employee representatives on improvements ... Brooke van Velden has better ideas than those working with the legislation every day. We don’t know what those ideas are yet. She won’t say."

It’s hard to coordinate action in an individualistic culture, and this is one result - rare birds getting run over, eaten, and terrorised on a beach www.thepress.co.nz/nz-news/3605...

Kudos to 'Mountain Tui' for this vblog, revealing the ineptness of Lester Levy & Margie Apa. Trigger warning: this will make your blod boil, listening to Levy and Apa obfuscating at every turn. This should have been covered indepth by the msm! m.youtube.com/watch?v=-gTp...

This is, very seriously, one of Randall's best and most clever comics. There are more layers to this the more you look. I checked Explain xkcd to make sure I got them all. I hadn't.

Andrew Gunn nails it yet again. www.thepress.co.nz/nz-news/3605...

Very Important and Urgent Things that Everyone Living in Aotearoa New Zealand Needs to Pay Attention to ASAP: a Big Ol’ Thread #nzpol 🧵🪡

Family violence remains a problem inAoNZ, especially at this time of the year. Our old attitudes of “it’s a domestic issue, better not get involved” only make things worse. Maybe we can all make a NY resolution to speak up & step up when faced with abusive or violent behaviour?

An appalling, heartbreaking (quite long) story of a health system that failed to protect anyone. Except the awful doctor at the heart of it. I know this is an extreme case, but surely we don’t want NZ health to go down this path. Let’s properly fund public health care.

Useful reflections based on experience in Hungary on how to push back on recent shifts to the right. www.politico.com/news/magazin...

“Survivors of abuse from state institutions were offered a formal apology in parliment on 12 November. Giving an apology on behalf of the state is tricky business. Here’s Connie Buchanan with a summary of how to do the bare minimum.” #nzpol

Gary Payinda is a staunch advocate for public health who should be celebrated and supported. Not silenced due to HNZ’s current climate of fear and blame.

My partner is a Qualified Licensed Builder with over 20yrs experience. He has no work from now till Xmas. If you know anyone in the Tauranga area who needs any building work from the smallest jobs to the largest please DM me. He is honest, reliable & a great builder. Please RT. #Kikorangi

Drink in it! May never see the like again! 😄 #INDvNZ #INDvsNZ 🇮🇳🏏🇳🇿

This is appallingly shameful for all of us. And to have this “apology” delivered by this government is just galling.

“Now is the time, we argue, for Māori organisations to develop hospitals to provide Māori, particularly older Māori, with culturally-safe care.” — Marama Muru-Lanning and Hilary Lapsley.

Dunedin Hospital’s inefficiencies need addressing

What a sensible and hopeful vision about how we can work together in Aotearoa. e-tangata.co.nz/korero/debat...

Luxon went on to claim that a capital gains tax would deter wealth creators. This self-delusion is rife among property speculators and currency traders. In reality, flipping houses and doing currency trades creates wealth only for the individuals concerned. #nzpol werewolf.co.nz/2024/10/gord...

Not quite sure which newspaper this is from, but regardless: all of this. Love Sandi Toksvig
