The leader of the free world & his deputy bullying, shouting & finger pointing at President Zelenskyy. “You haven’t said thanks”. Truly abhorrent (& embarrassing). Time for Europe to raise their game! www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/... #standwithukraine

Wow! We’re back in the dark ages - pre-the enlightenment. We’re now living in a world whereby the US is ANTI-diversity, ANTI-science, ANTI-Ukraine, and PRO-Russia. Holy smoke. Everyday it gets worse. Well done American Trump supporters! Hope it works out ok for you guys.

Not only did the US vote against the UN resolution / they filed their own which makes no reference to backing Ukraine's territorial integrity, and refers to Russia's invasion as a "conflict". #shameful www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c4...

BREAKING: US voted against Ukraine's UN resolution which branded Russia the "aggressor" & demanded withdrawal of its troops. US on list of 18 nations also incl Russia, Iran and North Korea to vote against. UK & most European nations among 93 states to back Ukrainian resolution. China abstained.

Impressive new study by @ianhussey.bsky.social and colleagues: "An Aberrant Abundance of Cronbach’s Alpha Values at .70" journals.sagepub.com/doi/epub/10....

A sporting and musical weekend bonanza :-). 1. Liverpool now 11 points clear. Excellent work #LFC. #ManLiv 2. Snow Patrol smashed it at the (shiny new) Co-op Live arena in Manchester last night

A couple of final random Marrakech views :-)

Lie after lie has been told this week about how the Ukraine war started, from the Kremlin and the White House. Here's our News Agents video essay which explains the truth, and spells out why Trump clings so close to Putin and lives in his warped reality. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cufM...

Great piece by @lewisgoodall.com on the current global madness. And of course, there’s a reasonable number 6 to add to the list. What has Putin got on Trump? goodallandgoodluck.substack.com/p/were-wakin...

The very idea that Zelenskyy has to defend who started this war beggars belief - not to mention the dictator comment. We’re living in dark & unsettling times without any guard rails

Jardin Majorelle, Marrakech - home of Yves Saint Laurent - really is rather special :-)

Views around Marrakesh

We continue to live in crazy awful times. Putin illegally invades Ukraine, suppresses Russian democracy & has opposition leaders poisoned (& the rest), but yet the new US administration is happy to appease. Perhaps try reading the outstanding Navalny autobiography.

Hats off to Plymouth Argyle…. #LFC #LIVPA

My heart goes out to colleagues in the US who are currently experiencing the most awful scientific vandalism imaginable. Science should *never* be politicised. #science #DOGE

Fascinating insights in this episode with Dr. Megan Gunnar. Early-life stress can rewire children's bodies us for life. Topics span psychology & biology. @ryanlinnbrown.bsky.social is fabulous, of course. @srcdorg.bsky.social @isdp.org

Final reminder #LTHEchat is happening TODAY at 8pm GMT. The chat will be led by Dr. Pam Birtill @diervilla.bsky.social, Dr. Richard Harris @richharrisleeds.bsky.social and Dr. Madeleine Pownall @maddipow.bsky.social. Read the blog post at: wp.me/p4QBCl-1O7

The BBC’s Steve Rosenberg yet again demonstrating the importance of journalism. Excellent work! Perhaps next stop the US :-). www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/...

Finished Stakeknife - what a fantastic, but harrowing, podcast with outstanding investigative journalism. Well worth your time. Great work @Younghorgan

Today’s #DesertIslandDiscs with Nick Cave - as good, if not even better, than I had hoped :-). Fascinating stuff. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

The River Foyle, Derry, looking peaceful this morning

In lovely Derry, now catching up on the actions of the 47th president of the US, and the words Wild West, Banana Republic and despot come to mind. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Can always rely on my own hometown - Derry - for the finest Irish coffee :-)

Lovely visit to Queen’s University Belfast today to give a talk all things research :-). This lovely building & the quad behind always reminds me of the 16/17 year old me on a school open day excited for my future, unknown life!

This is what happens when you fact-check the garbage misinformation that is being propagated by Elon Musk. No wonder he, Zuckerberg, Trump et al want fact-checking done away with! www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/...

Glass of milk a day cuts bowel cancer risk - findings from new study www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Four of the seven stories leading BBC News website are a result of Musk/Trump misinformation and/or bullying. Four more years of the awfulness. Urgh.

A rather delightful festive scoreline :-) #LFC #WESLIV

Pantomime, always a festive delight :-)

Beautiful Christmas morning run done. Fresh, crisp & passed numerous happy smiling fellow runners. But of course, it’s not a Merry Christmas for everyone, therefore, look out for each other over the break :-).
