What a terrible night in Kyiv…again

Another night sleeping on the floor, listening to the sound of dozens of drones flying toward Kyiv and wondering if you’ll make it through. The air raid alert hit just as I was drifting off, and it’s too late and too cold to run to the shelter now. Just hoping our air defense holds.

Every day at 9AM, Ukrainians observe a minute of silence. Everyone stops what they’re doing, stands, and remembers those we’ve lost — and those still fighting to protect us. It’s a moment of unity, a reminder that the reality we’ve come to accept as normal isn’t normal at all.

This morning’s massive drone attack ended around dawn, and it felt surreal — looking out the window, seeing the sky filled with smoke from the fires, and then hearing birds chirping like nothing had happened, like we hadn’t just come close to dying.

If I make it through this drone and missile strike, it’ll be a miracle. I’ve been through a lot of attacks before, but I’ve never been this terrified or felt this close to dying.

No sleep for those in Kyiv tonight — so many loud explosions.

Sunday morning in Kyiv: it’s 6AM, I’m reading a book, sipping coffee, watching the sun rise over the city… and then—BOOM—a loud explosion shatters the calm, and a flock of birds takes off in a panic.

As soon as my cat hears thunder, he runs into the bathroom — the place we usually hide during missile strikes — and just sits there, shaking.

It’s been raining nonstop in Kyiv for ten days straight. I’m officially over this weather.

Third night in a row. I’m sleeping on the floor while the walls shake from explosions for the third night in a row.

MASSIVE drone and missile strike in Kyiv. My cat’s so terrified by the explosions, he can barely walk. I had surgery today, and now I’m stuck sitting on the floor in the hallway, hiding from the attack🫠

This is a good example of how cyberattacks that seem minor at first can have serious long-term consequences. A Ukraine-linked cyberattack on Russia’s electronic court filing system wiped out about a third of its case archive. therecord.media/russia-court...

The internet gives you access to everything — EXCEPT a legal way to watch the movie you actually want to see. I wanted to rewatch David Lynch’s Lost Highway, and there’s literally no way for me to do it without resorting to piracy (which I won’t do).

Spent the whole night on the bathroom floor because of a drone and missile strike. Barely got any sleep. Just made some coffee and had to hide again — another drone attack. Wish me luck getting through the day🫠
