Audio Description is a growing genre within VO, where an artist performs scripts that further the visual understanding of the media for audiences who are blind or have low vision. This class is open to the whole community. Tickets here: navavoices.org/classes/ *All tickets are pay-what-you-can.

Now we need one with Boomhauer as King Kai. Hank goes to him for training, and he's like... "IIIIItell'yawhatman, bigol'spiritbombyacallforthatandbeoverrealquickman, orkaioken'yatakehimdownlikethat, butdon'tyoubegoin'beondtimesthreeman, thenyoujustaskin'fortrouble."

A fun little story (that I held off on telling due to the strike). One of the NPCs I played in FFVII Rebirth was an NPC that, having played the original game *many* times, I recognized immediately from the script similarities (I said in the booth, "Oh, THAT guy!"). Here's a little side-by-side:

Remember when Nintendo said they had no interest in Gen AI? How many companies have publicly said they have no interest in using it for games only to then turn around and do it. It’s why our laws and contacts have to protect artists and not rely on them keeping their word

This. We had ethical employers signing up for the interim agreement and we also had wonderful employers signing up for the independent agreements as well: Independent Interactive Media Agreement Independent Interactive Localization Agreement Tiered-Budget Independent Interactive Media Agreement

Too true!

It *never* hurts to be informed--come to one of these meetings with your questions!

Lonestar shot first.

SAG-AFTRA Video Game Strike suspended at noon PT today. All SAG-AFTRA members are instructed to return to work on productions under the IMA, including work promoting or publicizing projects produced under the IMA. READ MORE: www.sagaftra.org/sag-aftra-vi...

Holy WOW! I certainly wouldn't *mind* this coming to LA, I'd *LOVE* to play in this world! But honestly? My first preference would be for it to go to Vancouver and get as much of the original dub cast back as possible. We'll see, I guess! www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2025-06...

It's worth remembering, UK actors...even putting the issue of strike solidarity aside, if you wish to think about it purely in terms of your own interests, remember this: any contract a struck game company may offer you is *beyond* likely to have some seedy AI-related provisions in it. Jussayin.'

My social media policy is that it's a work-only thing for me. Aside from the occasional dog pic ('cause why not?), I don't really talk about non-VO things. That said, I can tell you--at least as of this writing--that there is absolutely *no* need to bring the national guard here to LA.

Making an indie / AA video game and confused about how to go about getting voice acting? Navigating agencies, the union, etc to get those top tier voice actors you thought would never show any interest in your game? (Hint: they will!) Hire me for your casting director, because I've done just that!

The sratement from this coalition is SO GOOD!

Actors…talking about your strike-related concerns on social media – – and I cannot emphasize this enough – – *does not help.* It actually backfires. I’m not saying you can’t have questions or concerns, I’m just saying that social media isn’t the place to discuss them. This meeting on Monday is.

SAG-AFTRA is actor-led and actor-run. SAG-AFTRA moves at the behest of the acting community. The LBFO was rejected because a supermajority of actors who learned what was in it refused to accept it. SAG-AFTRA isn't "forcing" us to be on strike. We, the actors are choosing to remain on strike.

Thanks @paperbagboy.bsky.social for having me. But yeah I make the announcement here that after John got recast, that was the final straw for me & I told hoyo I was not coming back to record until they signed the SAG interim agreement, as I have still been dealing with my youtu.be/nmlJhpexL4k?...

BBC reports that voice actor Gayanne Potter has had her voice cloned by Al without her consent, and the model is being used as the new announcer voice of ScotRail. She is currently battling for it to be taken down. Story in images and link to the article in thread. (1/5)

There are.....hooo boy, numerous issues with AI, but this story here is an excellent example of why the issue of *consent* is one of the bigger ones. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Wwwwelp. IMDb scraped all of my live-action dubbing credits and a lot (but oddly, not all) of my adaptation credits. No matter, I'll just upload 'em again. Hardly a "crisis." I am curious what the logic is behind being allowed to credit anime dub actors and not live-action dub actors, though.

I don't get it, he's saying that like it's a bad thing.

In the 80's, SAG went on an animation strike. All the producers threatened to start casting in Canada instead. Some made good on that threat, some didn't. In the meantime, animation work in the US certainly didn't go extinct, and many of those producers eventually returned. Just a reminder.

In recent weeks, video game publishers Take-Two and EA both warned investors about potential "reputational" risks to the use of gen-AI in games. It's a problem that all game companies will soon need to confront: Players hate genAI. This week's column: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

The barest of bare minimums we still need for a semi-safe contract. The extremely narrow definition of what an ICDR is, according to employers, still concerns me, too, as it leaves a lot uncovered. But without these 3 things, we have NO DEAL! #SAGAFTRAstrong #LevelUpTheContract

I've heard some people say, "lawyers I know have said the current deal is good." Well, those lawyers won't identify themselves, and I can't imagine ever taking legal advice from people who won't identify if they're lawyers or not. The lawyers who *have* identified themselves have pointed this out:

Here it is, what needs to change in the Last Best and Final offer (LBFO) — all in one place. Let’s come together. Let’s get this deal done. #VideoGameStrike #SagAftraStrong

One of the only times I’ll willingly link to a Facebook post, to signal boost a much more through explanation of the current #voiceover #videogame contract up for negotiation, from a far more educated and experienced colleague than myself: www.facebook.com/1221024852/p... We *CANNOT* mess this up.

@crispinfreeman.bsky.social response to the anonymous chart that’s been floating around for the past few days, summarized with some GPM additions. The full response is linked at the end of the thread/in the caption. #SAGAFTRA #LevelUpTheContract

I didn't authorize to go on strike "until some big game companies threaten to leave," I authorized to go on strike until we get a fair contract. If some big companies really do leave? Fine--there are *puh-lenty* of video games (and more on the way) that are signing the Interim Agreement.
