A rise in frequency and intensity of extreme weather events poses risks to Europe’s infrastructure. Projected damage may increase tenfold by 2100. 51% of cities now have adaptation plans, up from 26% in 2018. Read more in the #ESOTC2024. https://bit.ly/3RcclBe #C3S

Just got word that all senior personnel at the Houston weather service office are gone (some took the early retirement offers, at least one left because, well, probably obvious reasons). This is the "thoughts and prayers" approach to keeping people safe from extreme weather events.

Western NC was long thought to be a “climate haven,” but Hurricane Helene and subsequent flooding showed virtually nowhere is safe from extreme weather disasters. In fact, 72% of the state’s counties may face “climate abandonment,” migration driven by a combination of factors.

New paper linking persistent high pressure systems to extreme fire weather and wildfire activity across Europe: royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/...

From flooding in the East to wildfires in the West, extreme weather events are only getting worse. Instead of protecting Americans, the Trump admin is gutting our ability to predict, prepare for, and recover from disasters. Read more in my Extreme Weather, Extreme Cuts report.

Parts of northern Italy were placed on red alert due to extreme weather bringing torrential rain and strong gales.

We’ve long underestimated how many people are killed by extreme weather. Better modeling is coming, but also faces political setbacks.

Climate change is not just a problem of physics but a crisis of justice

Jacob Rees-Mogg is a ghoul, he would have complained that thirty pieces of silver was too much for Judas and stolen the nails from Jesus hands to sell them.

He’s got away with untold crimes, lies & offences. He’s achieved the highest office in the land. Twice. He’s lining his pockets on an industrial scale & persecuting his enemies for fun. But he’s still a miserable, bitter, humourless & furious man. Because deep inside, he knows *exactly* who he is.

A great sign seen during the marches on April 19th!

Today is Day 9. 0 deals.

An event which is quite literally put on by the Mayor of London. This year Sadiq said: "The Passion of Jesus welcomes thousands of Londoners of all backgrounds to Trafalgar Square to enjoy a live reenactment of the story of Jesus’s final days and resurrection." Who's losing?

Saturday April 19th folks

“That’s when they suspended the constitution. They said it would be temporary. There wasn’t any rioting in the streets. People stayed home, watching their televisions, looking for direction. There wasn’t even an enemy you could put a finger on.” - Margaret Atwood, Handmaids Tale

I’ve seen this movie before and it didn’t end well.

Saturday anthem. Turn it up

Who could’ve foreseen that it would be a disaster to put an unqualified Fox weekend host with a drinking problem and sordid personal history in charge of the military

"We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both." —Louis Brandeis

The turnout in small towns across the country has been incredible drawing crowds of thousands. We’re already seeing over one million in attendance nationwide, and events are still underway. Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Ohio all had especially surprising showings.

THIS! FUCKING! THIS!!!

Imagine that: a drunk Fox entertainment host can't run the largest agency in the world. It's a real shocker. www.mediaite.com/politics/the...

WOW: Massive crowds in New York City right now for the 50501 National Day of Action against the Trump regime.

ICE Agents should never be able to hide behind “just following orders.” They are Gestapo for a dictator and it should never be forgiven nor forgotten.

impeach. convict. remove. rinse. repeat.

“Department of Government Efficiency.”

It fascinates me that giving to charity is considered ‘noble and praiseworthy’… But, creating an economic system that works for EVERYONE and doesn't require charity, is considered socialist and evil. Mind-boggling. 😎✨

The times require that elected officials be not just representatives of our communities and states but organizers defending American constitutional democracy and leaders out of this lapse into authoritarian rule. Watch this clip from @podsaveamerica.crooked.com:

Friendly reminder. In the United States, criminals are entitled to due process. Even if you pay hush money rig an election, steal top secret documents, or incite a mob to overthrow the government; no matter how egregious your crimes, you’re entitled to due process.

250 years after the midnight ride of Paul Revere, this message was projected on the bell tower of the Old North Church in Boston last night "Let the Warning Ride Forth Once More: Tyranny is at Out Door" 🏇🏽 No Kings #America250

Punch a bully in the nose and see what happens

It turns out a convicted felon, adjudicated rapist and financial fraudster does not make for a good President.

Not sure who needs to hear this, but any govt official who violates someone's constitutional rights -- and is acting outside the scope of their lawful authority -- can be PERSONALLY liable in a civil suit. ICE officers. Cabinet members. White House staffers. Even the president.

It’s been a long week. Every day under this administration somehow feels worse than the last. We know how exhausting this fight can be, but don’t give up. Get some rest tonight. Tomorrow is another big day. Many of our coalition members spent today traveling to event sites around the country.

Two court rulings unfroze hundreds of millions of dollars in federal climate funds.

Extra time at Old Trafford. 112’ wins the penalty 120’ assists Kobbie Mainoo 121’ assists Harry Maguire Miracle man. Respect.

youtu.be/8Oidw43DGpo?... Watch this! Not because you’ll want to - but because we need to! Where’s the leader many voted for because he was a pro EU? A champion of the disadvantaged, disabled and poor? Oh sorry! Did you believe that stuff? I think we may all have been duped.
