I love my job, I just had like an hour-long slack discussion with two coworkers debating whether its correct for an emulator to force 4:3 aspect ratio or not. It's great to work with people who care so much about details in how old games should be presented.

I found the Wario of malls in Shinjuku

Show me your pet and what they were named after.

More Kyoto: the world’s most amazing pancake, fall foliage, and… skibidi?

Ate some amazing kaisen-don at Tsukiji market and for dinner we went to this awesome gyoza restaurant in Kyoto. Next couple days we have some incredible meals planned in Kyoto so very excited for the food to come…

Japan day 3: A business partner took me to his favorite shoyu ramen shop that he’s been eating at for 20 years, and for dinner we ate various grilled meats. We got beef rump, pork tenderloin, and the best slice of Studio-Ghibli-bacon I’ve ever seen in my life.

In the past two weeks I have been told by native Japanese speakers that I have excellent handwriting and intonation. I know they are just being polite but it makes me feel really good about continuing to study Japanese!

Japan food day 2: I ate some amazing katsu don for lunch and had some really outstanding shio ramen with soup made from red snapper. The flavor of the fish made the broth taste really unique and also the noodles were thin but had an incredibly satisfying bite to them.

Way back in summer of 2006 when I was working as a QA tester, I used to listen to Asian Kung Fu Generation every day in my car while driving home from El Segundo on the 105 freeway. I discovered them by playing imported Japanese music games. Nearly 20 years later I finally got to see them live!

A friend recommended that I find a good eel restaurant since it’s hard to find in the US. I ended up going for dinner and getting the skewer omakase plus grilled shiitake mushrooms. It was so delicious! The liver and the bite with the egg and shiso were particularly good.

Day 1 of my trip to Japan. I randomly stumbled upon a sweet Death Stranding popup art exhibit and had some amazing ramen. Also found the most based coffee shop. More pics to follow in thread.

Thank you all so much for coming to the first ever Booyah Bay! It was so nice seeing so many new faces!

Had such a fun time playing Splatoon at Booyah Bay in San Jose!!! I can’t wait for the next one.

I helped with bringing this NES indie gem to PS4 and PS5. I really hope people play it and love it!

Starting a new job tomorrow bringing old games to life on modern hardware via emulation at Implicit Conversions, so seems a good time to clean my gross keyboard.

Merry Christmas from Santa’s elf 🎄🦊

I’m a man of few holiday traditions but the most sacred to me is placing Waluigi atop the Christmas tree.

Absolutely shocked to find this out

So close to getting Super Mario Bros 1, surprisingly one of the most difficult games with no mapper to emulate properly, working in my NES emulator. Just gotta get scroll working in the PPU now…

Used some leftover turkey broth and trout heads to make a Thanksgiving shoyu ramen with leftover turkey. Turned out pretty good for being thrown together with a lot of random fridge ingredients.

Dog acquired. His name is Mulder and I love him so much even though we’ve only spent a few hours together in the car.

A couple weeks ago I started writing an NES emulator as an educational project. I am still far from finished, but I can boot into the nestest ROM and pass all the tests. I can of course boot other games too but obviously I only test with legally obtained software 😉

Packing up my office ahead of some work being done at our house. If you could choose one to play right now, which one are you picking? #retrogaming #nes #nintendo #supernes #n64 #gameboy

Cold tomato ramen. Homemade noodles, tomato, basil, cucumber, menma, chashu, shio tare, crab broth, and olive oil. Very tasty summer dish.
