The US is experiencing corruption the way they are experiencing measles. So many institutions had been inoculated against it that they thought it was no longer necessary to be afraid of it and now the outbreak is here and not enough institutions have immunity.

one pitch for higher education from a failed professor: in humanities courses, just focus on one book the entire semester and take it really slow. read sections together in class. do in person writing responses. only talk about that one book.

Woke up to thousands of new followers at the other site. Here's the mixtape I posted for the new folk⁸s #Baseballiscinema

Until 15 minutes ago, I thought everything in this Slate article about the cinematic Mets broadcasts was just in my head. Refreshing to learn I'm not just projecting from my ivory tower. #LGM slate.com/culture/2025...

Not just US Liberalism, Liberal democracy in general. For example, when Sartre was condemning French torture in Algeria in '57, it was this dynamic he pointed to. Even going so far as to draw a distinction between "political violence" and "terrorism" that has been subsequently completely eroded.

If you don't laugh, you'll cry. Thanks to @theguardian.com for talking to me about how we can make campaigns a public good, especially as our leaders try to make the world suckier:
