I've been struggling with disk space on my MacBook Pro for a couple of years now. I keep offloading things to external storage, but what I really want is to buy a new Mac. I'd love a Mac Studio, but there's no way I'm buying an M2. Come on Apple, update it!

iOS Dev Weekly – Issue 697 is out! Happy Friday everyone. iosdevweekly.com/issues/697

Does anyone else routinely get 500 errors when logging into GitLab? For *years* now, it takes me 4 or 5 attempts to log in because the first few almost always fail.

iOS Dev Weekly -- Issue 696 is (finally!) out. Happy Friday, everyone. πŸŽ‰ iosdevweekly.com/issues/696/

If you're organising a conference this year, I know I'd love to attend a workshop from @felibe444.bsky.social on this fbernutz.github.io/posts/2025-0...

iOS Dev Weekly - Issue 694 is out! iosdevweekly.com/issues/694/ This is the first issue with a new publishing system, so please let me know if anything doesn't look right, or give me feedback on the redesign. The email is sending *very* slowly and won't finish for 11 hours. Please bear with that!

Pressing send on an email going to more than 40,000 people always makes you pause, but when it's an entirely new sending system that pause turns into a little bead of sweat. πŸ˜…

I deployed the new @iosdevweekly.com site late yesterday evening and was relieved to see some new subscribers on the list this morning πŸŽ‰ I tested it plenty it, but it's nice to see it working. Fingers crossed sending also goes as smoothly 😱

I was just rickrolled by generative AI. πŸ˜‚ I was working on this week’s newsletter and writing Markdown in Cursor, and as I typed an opening bracket it suggested a YouTube link. I couldn’t resist checking what it wanted me to watch and as soon as I clicked, I heard those familiar 80s drums, and …

Happy New Year everyone! πŸ₯³ I’ve been lucky enough to spend some time in Switzerland over the last few days and it’s just as beautiful as you might imagine.

It's not ready to show yet but I finally got the re-created/tweaked email template for @iosdevweekly.com looking good in Outlook versions all the way back to Outlook 2007. 😱 If you've never done HTML email design coding before, be thankful.

With my phone directly in front of me I say "Hey Siri, 90 minute timer" and the HomePod two rooms away sets a timer. I want the timer on my phone, so I say "Hey Siri, cancel my timer" and my phone says "There are no timers to cancel" while the HomePod ignores me. How's your day going? πŸ˜‚

Talking of non-Safari browsers, I have an odd problem that I can’t get to the bottom of. Some app is quietly launching Safari on my Mac and I can’t figure out which one it is. I spot it open in the App Switcher and I'm 100% sure it's not being launched by me.
