Blogged: Enabling auditing in Azure SQL with Terraform Not quite as obvious as I thought it would be. david.gardiner.net.au/2025/02/azur... #Terraform #Azure #AzureSQL #SQLPass

We have just released v2.4.3 of the Chocolatey CLI! Release notes can be found here: docs.chocolatey.org/en-us/choco/release-n...

.NET 10 Preview 1 is out. Read the blog post announcement at devblogs.microsoft.com/dotnet/dotne... Or check out more detailed info about what's changed at github.com/dotnet/core/... #dotnet

I guess i should be flattered someone picked my OSS project to compete with scand.com/company/blog...

Story estimates aren't just numbers - they're dev mental health indicators. That mid-story moment when you realise you've underestimated... anxiety spikes, motivation tanks. We've all been there. Fresh blog on why good estimates matter for developer wellbeing... www.sixpivot.com.au/post/why-goo...

@mcrook.com I meant to ask you, what did you you use for your DDD presentation? Those code animations were really cool!

Well that's embarrassing. Was all set to raise a bug report with @pocketcasts.com that I didn't seem to be able to download content over 4G, only wifi. But just checked app settings and it turns out I'd disabled that ages ago and forgot 🤣

MEL ✈️ ADL Heading home

Well that's a nice bonus. Just got approached by the lady at the Virgin Australia gate to see if I wanted to "upgrade" to an exit row seat. Why YES (as a person of long legs) that would be great! I used to ask all the time, but now they sell them as premium most of the time it isn't worth it.

Does what the LLM know about us effect our work efficiency? I did a few experiments asking: I’m a [insert gender] software developer. write me a javascript function to return shoe size based on foot length of the customer First experiment results here: soulsolutions.com.au/does-what-th...

Oh, also I can confirm I was the only person in the congregation wearing an "Animal from the Muppets" t-shirt 😀 I think a few of the regulars liked it though.

Well that was delightful 😀 Surprised my friend (she had an idea something was happening, but didn't know who!) Church service was good (a traditional "high" Anglican?), so very different to my home church, but friendly, welcoming people. Now off to the airport.

A little excursion to suburban Melbourne this morning before flying home this arvo. Hanging out in a trendy cafe, then going to visit a friend's church (she probably doesn't know, so might be a surprise!).

Looks like just as @dddmelbourne.bsky.social is finishing, @dddnorth.bsky.social is starting!

Thank you @dddmelbourne.bsky.social for organising such a well run community-focused software developer conference today. Rest well tonight in the knowledge of a job well done ❤️ #DDDMelb

The locknote for @dddmelbourne.bsky.social with @aaron-powell.com taking us down memory lane. Yes, that's Windows XP #DDDMelb

Role playing games for devs with Kirsty McDonald at #DDDMelb

Staying in the same room for @mcrook.com with "Unlocking Hidden Efficiency: Seamless Solutions with TDD You Didn't Know You Needed" #DDDMelb

After lunch I couldn't miss @rocklanrocks.bsky.social on performance profiling talk at #DDDMelb

A few sessions done already at #DDDMelb. A quick update on writing better docs/READMEs with Swapnil Ogale before lunch.

Delving deep into database performance and how you can implement them, Bryden Oliver gave a practical approach. #DDDMelb

Now at Yarra/Red Room, we have Tracy Bongiorno. She’s sharing about her Continuous Deployment journey. Gitflow slowed their releases down and with painful hotfixes, time for a change!

Yaser Adel Mehraban give us some secure coding tips so we can all sleep better at night. #DDDMelb

That was an interesting keynote talk about the current state and future of robotics. Might have to avoid the main hall though as room acoustics (PA wasn't great) combined with background noise from vendor tables makes it hard to hear. #DDDMelb

I'm reminded of my friend Dr Tom Tilley and his Chuppa Chup powered Lollybot www.tomtilley.net/projects/lol...

I noticed the preferred tag for @dddmelbourne.bsky.social conference is actually #DDDMelb, not #DDDMelbourne. I feel like #DDDMelba could have been a nice (yummy) alternative 😀

A bright and early start for our organisers and volunteers

Looking forward to attending #DDDMelbourne tomorrow! The last time I made it across from Adelaide to @dddmelbourne.bsky.social was back in 2016, and the event has grown a lot since then. I probaby should look at the agenda and figure out which talks to see! www.dddmelbourne.com/agenda

(Boosts encouraged!) Hi! 👋 I’m Kat. I’ve been a professional dev for over 15 years. I maintained the NPM CLI for 5 of those. I sat in TC39. I work at Microsoft. I’m self taught w/a film degree and no formal CS edu. Are you new to tech? What do you wish you could ask some1 like me? Literally AMA

Well that's a nice surprise to wake up to. My (pretty trivial) PR was accepted for the #dotnet SDK. (Just fixing a copy/paste issue in the command line docs for `dotnet test`)

ADL ✈️ MEL Spending a couple of days catching up with a client team I've been working with remotely for a while (and finishing that engagement next week), then off to @dddmelbourne.bsky.social on Saturday!

That whole "you need to be at the airport 2 hours before your flight" really doesn't apply to #Adelaide. As I sit here early at the departure gate for over an hour. Though it is good to allow a bit of white space I guess.

@david.wengier.com I'm submitting a PR for github.com/dotnet/sdk, but my changes seem to have a bunch of extra whitespace/line-endings that I didn't intend. Are there special git settings I should use?

So this is the awesome bunch of folks I work with! Most of the time we're all remote, but it's extra special when we can all come together in the one place to catch up. Great to see @sixpivot.bsky.social is now active on Bluesky.
