just so we’re all clear: the reason they keep using dolls as their example is because they’re trying to frame caring about material stuff as feminine and thus inherently shameful

ICYMI: New story out today—

Next up in my Great Stephen King Chronological (Re)Read project...CUJO (1981) Fist Edition.

After centuries of isolation, a blinded Polyphemus struggles to heal in a world that only remembers him as a monster—until an unexpected friendship teaches him to truly see again. My new story, "The Everlasting Wound of Polyphemus," is #OutNow in @factorfourmagazine.com.

When I lived in California, the first rain of the season I would pop in Blade Runner and watch it. Now I live in Texas and it rains here and there off and on all the time and I don't know what to watch or when to watch it.

Marriage mostly consists of asking each other "Who is that? Is that the girl from before?" while sitting on the couch watching a movie.

"The last time I looked at anything with this eye, all I saw were men who hated me." Blinded cyclops Polyphemus struggles to heal in a world that only remembers him as a monster. "The Everlasting Wound of Polyphemus" coming soon to Factor Four Magazine.

Browsing old Year's Best SF volumes and came across @gregvaneekhout.bsky.social's "Far As You Can Go," about a kid and his robot on a quest to find the sea. Love the world and the voice. I'm a sucker for boy-and-his-robot tales!

Ten Years Ago Today: We gathered for our first Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street Season 2 table read.

I don't want to start an Internet war but...is a thumb a finger?

I had a very unpleasant experience with Chizmar and Cemetery Dance doing the Southern Reach limited edition. Chizmar has been perpetually late on publishing and has what I would call inept project management. And his association with Stephen King has over time accentuated his worst qualities.

Never hear much about bird flu anymore so I guess we cured it congratulations us. I'm guessing it was caused by fluoride and food dye.

I'm with FBP on this one and anybody following this unethical, spiteful asshat gets an automatic block from me. I don't care if you used to be President of the SFWA.

"The nightmare of perfection had taken our forefathers to the edge of suicide....Everywhere, men and women worked with a wild will to build a more imperfect world." --Cordwainer Smith, from "Alpha Ralpha Boulevard"

There is but one book that can guide us, help us, bring us peace, and show us the way. I think we all know what I'm talking about.

Can God microwave a frozen burrito so hot not even he can eat it?

The central point through which 80s synthpop music is distributed is a depeche node.

Current research.

Hey kids- today I’m celebrating a guy who everyone thought was dead, but returned to us. He wasn’t “respectable”, he had long hair and a beard, wasn’t a fan of authority, didn’t do things the conventional way, but he taught us a lot. Thinking of him on this day. 🙏

Three years ago today, my now-agent requested the full manuscript of The Tower in response to this query letter. Learn more about The Tower here: rbmediaglobal.com/audiobook/97... #TheTower #QueryLetter #WritersLife #LiteraryAgent #WritingCommunity #AuthorJourney #PublishingTips

In honor of the new impossible color reported in SA, here's a drabble (an exactly 100-word story) I wrote a couple years ago about a different impossible color...

I have only learned one thing in life and it's this: once you start eating both ends of the burrito, you've lost. I'm just not sure how to apply this to other ares of my life.

Buford is a very good boy. Be like Buford. Protect the vulnerable.

Do you want: A wheelchair-using superhero battling with the non-ADA-compliant superhero union? Extremely punny superhero names? Rage at institutions who can't take 5 damn minutes to work on accessibility? Here ya go, get it for $1: bsky.app/profile/effi...

I'm sorry, purveyor of cheap plastic lizards, but thats not a "24 pack of reptiles" because three of them are salamanders which are amphibians. It's a 22 pack at best.

New in the store: NEUROMANCER

I'm slowly culling my collection of books, comics and collectibles. Stop by my eBay store if you're interested. I have some very nice out of print Folio Press Rainbow Fairy Books and some Easton Press Masterpieces of SF and more coming. If you don't see something, ask. www.ebay.com/usr/writingr...

Kidnapping. Capturing a person against their will without due process is called kidnapping. Transporting them to another country without due process is called human trafficking. A squalid extrajudicial prison for people found guilty of no crime is called a concentration camp.

Is this *&$#^&@ing novelette going to turn into a full-blown novel? Is it? Because I wanted to write something short(er)! I don't have time for this!

Forgot to take my pain meds this afternoon so I guess I'm doing better.

SFWA members, if you listened to and enjoyed my middle grade horror audiobook The Tower you can help others discover it by giving it a recommend on the Nebula Reading List. If you are SFWA and reading/listening for review or awards purposes, sand me a DM and I can provide a review copy.

Preparing to start selling off my large comic book collection and it's impossible because every time I pick up a book to grade and price it I start reading it....
