Might get an unpopular opinion, but considering what he's already lost - career, reputation etc - it seemed excessive and a waste of a prison place to sling him in a cell for a few weeks.

The Trump/Musk administration truly is a moral abomination.

The US abandoning a brave ally enduring a horrible war, and then using its diplomatic muscle to free (alleged) sex offenders is an absolute stain on its reputation.

Presumably, she doesn't believe the current or previous leaders of the Conservative Party can ever be 'truly English', either. Just because someone wants you to kick them out of the Party, it doesn't mean you shouldn't do just that.

The right wing press are desperate for our PM to be humiliated in Washington. The least patriotic people in Britain.

What first attracted Donald Trump to alleged rapist Andrew Tate?

Can't imagine where their plane is heading.

Suella Braverman has written this: "For Englishness to mean something substantial, it must be rooted in ancestry, heritage, and, yes, ethnicity." As someone who, like Suella herself, has very little "English" ethnicity in their DNA, I would like to say that Suella can, to put it bluntly, fuck off.

This is big. Far-right troll site Guido Fawkes has always claimed it isn't subject to UK libel law as it's officially offshore. Today it conceded that it defamed Dale Vince, making clear it it's subject to UK law. No more dodging scrutiny. Staines will have to play by the rules like the rest of us.

I'm often critical of the British lobby but when Cummings tried this stunt against left wing outlets the whole lobby boycotted until they backed down. The US press are pathetic.

Leaving aside the rights and wrongs of Bezos' move, the WashPo was a liberal paper and its readers identified as such. It's always a bold move to sack your readers. Ordinarily I'd assume Bezos worked off the data but this feels different

PMQs verdict: Keir Starmer brushes Badenoch aside with ease Starmer definitively dispatched the Conservative leader, whose search for political relevance is looking increasingly desperate Latest for @politics-co-uk.bsky.social 👇 www.politics.co.uk/politicslunc...

The problem with really incompetent employees is that it's very difficult not to look like you're patronising them when you have to keep explaining the same thing over and over again until it sinks in #pmqs

Keir Starmer at #PMQs: “She didn't feature in my thinking at all. I was so busy over the weekend I didn't even see her proposal. ”She's appointed herself saviour of Western civilisation. It's a desperate search for relevance.”

No-one who has, or has ever had any input into UK foreign, defence or security policy believes or has ever believed this. Kemi Badenoch can't stop hallucinating straw men, surrendering to foreign lawyers, presumably while taking the knee.

Hard to describe what this is, isn’t it? Somewhere between trolling, imperialism and dementia.

i am sure he fucking does

Making Canada Great Again 🇨🇦. The latest polling by Ipsos Canada has the Liberal Party ahead by two points. Six weeks ago it was 26 points behind! www.ipsos.com/en-ca/libera...

Really good piece from Lewis. Starmer has been given the opportunity to become one of our great, game changing PMs - let's hope he doesn't blow it.

Not a fan of cutting the aid budget - but I can accept political realities- but I'm also not a fan of Milliband's salary for running this *charity*.

Wouldn't frame aid cuts as "pandering to Reform type voters". Aid unpopular among basically every group of voters, from left to right, from rich to poor yougov.co.uk/topics/socie...

Politically, you have more chance of getting public buy-in for tax rises to pay for more defence if you have first made these kinds of cut. That's just how it works.

It's not the gotcha the hacks think it is to suggest Starmer is only increasing defence spending now because Trump is in power. Of course that's the reason it's happening now. Trump is putting Europe at risk, Starmer is reacting accordingly.

Badenoch is a ludicrous individual.

If Chris Mason was on Mastermind his specialist subject would be the 2024 Labour Manifesto. Sadly his knowledge of the 2019 Tory one was nonexistent. #wato

Kemi Badenoch: Yes, but pronouns.

That's rather shot Kemi's bolt, hasn't it?

Badenoch could have made herself look like a prime minister in waiting by backing the PM, welcoming the defence spending increase, telling the PM she stands with the government on Ukraine and nothing is more important than the security of the UK. Instead it's culture war bs. She's not up to the job.

Genuinely cannot understand why you'd even mention something like this in a speech allegedly focusing on Ukraine and the defence of the UK and Europe. It's actually insulting to voters.

Those difficult decisions for Badenoch wouldn't include ending universal wfa or adding vat to private school fees or changing IHT for farmers....

Step up, do your bit, Britain, and remove those pronouns from your email signature. Glory to Ukraine.

I find it curious that there were never any hectoring and pious blogposts directed towards conservatives when they ran off to Parler and Gab, blathering on about why they needed viewpoint diversity and to avoid echo chambers. Why is that? Is it just “liberals” are expected to be the grown ups?

I am struck that the word 'Ukraine' does not appear in the Conservative trail for Kemi Badenoch's first foreign policy speech as leader

My god for fucks sakes, Trump has zero respect for anyone or anything. The sooner we accept we need to build a new world order, one that distrusts the US and its leadership, the better.

Macron corrects Trump after he claims "Europe is loaning the money to Ukraine. They get their money back."
