British Columbia has deep ties with Gyeonggi Province and strong relationships with partners like Samsung. We are working together to strengthen our sustainable economy and support jobs and the communities that depend on them

BC has what the world needs — and the ports to deliver. In Seoul, we’re strengthening trade to support jobs in BC. A new UBC–POSTECH partnership will lead innovations in quantum tech, AI, life sciences and sustainability. BC is going to be Canada’s economic engine.

Spent the last two days in Kuala Lumpur strengthening trade ties that support good-paying BC jobs — including our partnership with Petronas, investors in the largest private sector investment in BC history. It’s partnerships like this that position BC to be Canada’s economic engine.

Muslim communities will be gathering today to celebrate Eid al-Adha. Being the time of Hajj, this day is a reminder of the importance of sharing, gratitude and caring for others – values we all share as British Columbians. Eid Mubarak! (1/5)

We showcased the world’s very first wood leather soccer ball at the Osaka Expo. Developed by a team at UBC, wood leather is a BC innovation. While this prototype won’t be used in any FIFA matches soon, it represents BC’s creativity and leadership in a sustainable economy.

As we wrap things up in Tokyo and head to Osaka, our focus is on strengthening our trade and supporting jobs in BC. I look forward to expanding our partnerships and building a stronger future for BC.

BC has what the world needs, including critical minerals that are the building blocks for so many products. BC can meet global demand for these resources – and by promoting our industries and getting investments, we can support more family-supporting jobs in our province.

Our province has some of the best quality products in the world. Picked up some of BC’s very own Hardbite Chips and Real Earth Bounty chocolates at Seijo Ishii in Tokyo. Our work to diversify trade overseas supports good paying jobs in BC.

We are on the ground in Japan, sharing our message that BC has what the world needs, and the ports to deliver. Thank you to Ambassador Ian McKay for the warm welcome and help to facilitate meetings as we grow and expand BC’s trade relationships.

Pride season celebrates the many hard-fought victories gained by 2SLGBTQIA+ people over the decades. It’s also a declaration that hate and discrimination have no place in BC and everyone has the right to live in safety regardless of who they are or who they love. Happy Pride!

June is Filipino Heritage Month – celebrating the history, culture and contributions of the Filipino community. This year, we also grieve the tragic loss of life at the Lapu Lapu Day attack. In the spirit of bayanihan – unity – and kapwa – shared humanity – let us stand together.

As we set off on our trade mission to Japan, Malaysia and Korea, the goal is to support good jobs at home. BC has access to two-thirds of the world’s population from our ports and I look forward to meeting with our overseas partners and discuss how we all can succeed together.

BC is going to be Canada’s economic engine, and we are starting it up. Boeing Canada’s investment into sustainable jet fuel is a win-win for local jobs and the communities that depend on them. www.biv.com/news/economy...

Global demand for critical minerals and metals is increasing. In partnership with First Nations we will rise to seize this opportunity - protecting our land and water at the same time. Learn more: news.gov.bc.ca/32395

Good neighbours work together. That’s exactly what we’re going to do with the Yukon-BC Grid Connect Project. We’ll create more jobs and energy security, and pave the way for a stronger unified Canada. @ranjpillaiyt.bsky.social

Education was incredibly important to John Horgan. It set him on the path to becoming one of BC’s great Premiers. It is so fitting that Royal Roads University’s new campus will be named after John from Langford.

When the Komagata Maru arrived in Vancouver they were met with rejection because of who they were and where they came from. What followed was one of the darkest chapters in our history. We become better when we learn from the mistakes of the past & ensure we do not repeat them. (1/4)

Western Canada is going to be the economic engine of the country. The Premiers of Canada’s Western provinces and territories are ready to rise to the occasion.

I’m in Yellowknife to meet with my fellow Western Premiers. BC is ready to do the work, as part of a unified Canada, to build a new economy.

Hate and discrimination have no place in BC and equality isn’t up for negotiation. Everyone deserves to live in safety, free to be who they are. And we will always defend these rights.

Our relationships with other countries are more important than ever. Our trade mission next month to Japan, South Korea and Malaysia will help us reduce our reliance on American markets.

Big thanks to Finest At Sea Vic for sharing their busy dock with us today. 100 tonnes of fish being unloaded is headed for Asia, an example of the kind of trade BC businesses have with non-US markets.

Since we put the call out in March, over 1000 health care professionals  from America have expressed interest in coming to BC. We’ll welcome them with open arms and grateful hearts. Learn more: news.gov.bc.ca/32342 (1/2)

Happy Mothers Day! Cailey, you’re the best mom ever to our wild children. ❤️ Mom, thanks for making me who I am today. All imperfections in the finished product are just where I ignored what you tried to teach your stubborn and unusually tall son.

BC’s growing communities need more schools, hospitals and key infrastructure built quickly. The infrastructure act is all about building BC - it means more shovels in the ground and the good paying jobs that come with them.

Congratulations to Pope Leo XIV. His first address was about peace, acceptance and love. It’s a powerful message of hope that I know will resonate around the world.

As we look ahead, I see BC as the engine of Canada. We have everything we need to stand on our own two feet.

For years, Canadians and Americans have been valuable partners. While the unjustified tariffs have changed the relationship between our governments, we will always have love in our hearts for the American people.

BC will be a clean energy super power. By building on our competitive advantages to grow communities, industry and create thousands of family-supporting jobs in the process.

We have an opportunity to work together across the country and come out the other side stronger. BC is ready to work with Prime Minister Carney to respond to Trumps unjustified tariffs. (1/2)

We’ve introduced legislation that will speed up permitting and approvals to get shovels in the ground more quickly to build the schools, hospitals and other services people need.

My letter to Prime Minister Carney on how we can work together as we face threats to our economy and sovereignty.

The response we have seen from people in British Columbia to last Saturday’s tragedy reminds us of the core message of Asian Heritage Month – community.  People of Asian heritage have contributed immeasurably to the social, cultural, economic and political landscape of BC.   (1/2)

Since the late 1800s, Jewish Canadians have played an integral role in BC’s vibrancy and growth. Today, we are proud that our province is home to one of the fastest-growing Jewish populations in all of Canada.  (1/2)

We are grateful to those who built the world we live in and their struggles for a more just society. Thanks to the labour movement we have family-supporting jobs, weekends off and safer workplaces. And they continue this proud tradition by organizing for a better future.
