As EU JHA Ministers meet today, read @davidecolombi.bsky.social's latest piece. Using Italy's refusal to comply with an ICC arrest warrant, it highlights how migration policy is being used to erode the rule of law and to foster impunity, often with the EU’s tacit approval πŸ‘‰ bit.ly/4i3vKQC

Today we hosted a πŸ”‘ debate on protection challenges for refugees in πŸ‡±πŸ‡§. @drcngo.bsky.social, @rescueorg.bsky.social & INTERSOS shared field insights on shrinking protection space & legal barriers. Thanks to DG ECHO, DG MENA, @eudiplomacy.bsky.social, Perm Repr, Embassies & civil society for engaging!

Off to Brussels for @ceps.eu #ideaslab2025. Look forward to being on panel with @picumofficial.bsky.social Michele Levoy, ETUC's Mercedes Miletti, @eurightsagency.bsky.social, DG Home and @davidecolombi.bsky.social (CEPS) to discuss legal pathways #migration ideaslab.ceps.eu/programme/

πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί Legal migration pathways are a key priority for the von der Leyen II Commissionβ€”but do current policies match reality? πŸ’‘ At #CEPSLab2025, experts will assess EU & national frameworks, their impact on third-country nationals & how to ensure fair, effective migration policies.

🚨 New EU Report / How are irregularised migrants framed at the EU level? In this study @davidecolombi.bsky.social explores narratives in politics, media, and civil society. πŸ“– Read more: i-claim.eu/project/disc... #Migration #HumanRights #EU #IClaim

For the first time, #equality will have a dedicated session at #CEPSlab2025. With key EU equality strategies up for renewal in 2025 and no dedicated Commissioner in the new Commission, where does the Union of Equality stand?

@ceps.eu's DEI committee is organising its first ever session at #CEPSlab2025! In 2019, a 'Union of Equality' was listed as a top priority by the @ec.europa.eu. Yet the new EC doesn't have a Commissioner exclusively responsible for equality anymore... So, what's up with the EU's equality framework?

Not toot my own horn again (or our horn, really) - but this is precisely what our recent @ceps.eu publication discussed. The DSA can only make a real difference if it is enforced properly and without exceptions.

What can we expect from the new #EuropeanCommission on #irregularmigration? I speak with @davidecolombi.bsky.social, co-author (with Sergio Carrera) of Irregularising Human Mobility, a new open access book published by Springer open.spotify.com/episode/7alD...
