“Think David Attenborough meets a snarky film critic. A delightful mix of wildlife passion and pop culture commentary!” apparently… 😉

5 September - Exceptional. The story of the TV crew covering live the 72 Olympics hostage crisis. Barely 90 minutes but packs so much tension and detail in. Superb performances throughout.

One solitary frog in the pond. Only comes out at night. Clearly doesn’t want friends.

The decision to cut the aid budget is nothing short of a national shame. Embarassing to see us taking such pathetic retrograde steps.

Fishermen in 2016: "We're really pissed off and Farage says he's going to sort it all out, so we're voting Brexit." Fishermen in 2025: "Shit. We made a huge mistake. Huge." Farmers in 2025: "We're really pissed off and Farage says he's going to sort it all out, so we're voting Reform." 🙄

Hellebore season

Well, an unexpected update. Looked out this morning and the feeder wasn’t there. Eventually found it sitting on a chair in the garden, open. Best guess, a fox has used the chair to open it then left it there!

The wind has blown a suet feeder to the ground and one of the garden wood mice thinks all its Christmases have come at once. Pretty sure tomorrow there will be no suet and one obese, immovable mouse.

And yet, according to JD Vance, it’s Europe that has a problem with freedom of speech.

Spring sun. Bees feeding. Birds getting excited.

It’s important to preserve these though, because in about 12-18 months when they dump her and change direction again, they’ll probably scrub it all.

There were people in America who supported Ukraine and Palestine who voted Trump because they thought he’d bring peace. They didn’t stop to ask what sort of peace.

Amazes me that there are still people who think Russia have ‘kompromat’ such as hotel pee tapes. Nothing like that is needed to manipulate Trump. He’s pathologically inclined to side with Russia. Because they say “You’re strong just like us and we should all do what we want”.

In his world, they started it by opposing Putin. In trump’s mind Russia are the more powerful nation so should be allowed to simply take what they want. Therefore it’s Ukraine’s fault. And that also tells you how seriously to take some of his other statements of intent.

"Sorry, we can't make this technology that sucks and nobody wants and that uses enough power to blow up the moon unless we *also* steal people's shit to throw into our content woodchipper in order to produce mediocre digital particleboard out of the cumulative artbarf." futurism.com/the-byte/ope...

I’m going to have a brief vent and I’m going to keep it deliberately non-specific. It concerns a complaint I saw about how my employer was managing a piece of land that came under my auspices. That’s as specific as I’ll get.

“The land use framework could be the most important reimagining of how we use our land since the Second World War” Great piece by @henrydimbleby.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Dear JD Vance, allow me to demonstrate that we are still entirely committed to free speech, by telling you to f*** off back to your own country and up the bum of your corrupt leader.

I hope someone is telling Trump that ending wars by simply surrendering to the strongest party won’t win him his Nobel Peace Prize.

Sorry Google, we don't need any 'Gulf of America' subtitling, it's the Gulf of Mexico and nothing else.

Donald Trump has no understanding of history, culture or faith because he personally has no culture or faith. He has only selfishness and greed. So, of course, he could never understand why the Palestinians are not going to be okay with a nice condo in another country.

In a sentence never before uttered by humans, I am delighted to share that an alligator stole my conservation instructor’s hat by jauntily walking into the water while wearing it 🐊

ALLIGATOR IN A HAT

How was I unaware of the 1869 Sea Birds Preservation Act? The first piece of nature conservation legislation in the world, and it came from East Yorkshire as a response to over-exploitation of the colony at Flamborough Head.

Arrest him the second he sets foot in the country. Simple.

If “farmed” is seen as pejorative, maybe tackle that root cause rather than avoiding it?
