Season 2 of 1923 is… not good.

I didn’t get a job I was really hoping to land. It would’ve meant a huge and positive career change, something other than teaching. In a cruel twist of fate, immediately after hearing the news that I didn’t get the job, I had to teach Macbeth’s “Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow” speech. Oof.

Despite sporting the greatness of Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford, much of the wind in the sails of 1923 has been lost thanks to the rudderless ending of Yellowstone.

I just finished John Gwynne’s Faithful and the Fallen series and dammit if it’s not the best epic fantasy series I’ve read in ages.

Star Trek: TOS 3.4 Original Airdate: 11 Oct, 1968 SPOCK: Evil does seek to maintain power by suppressing the truth. MCCOY: Or by misleading the innocent. KIRK: Misleading the innocent? I wonder.

Noah Wyle is the best. The Pitt is such an engrossing show.

I doubt they will, but I hope the Dolphins clean house this offseason. This franchise needs (yet another) reset.

Taking a break from the Heat, I usually ask for donations to my mom’s charity, the Good Shepherd Foundation, once a year. They run a free clinic in Haiti and are really doing great things. The money goes to medication, lab equipment and more. www.thegoodshepherdfoundation.org

Gladiator II was…not good. Oof.

Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince, And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!

The most unrealistic thing about Home Alone is that Kevin McCallister cleaned the house before his mom got home the next morning.

If it were done, when ’tis done, then ’twere well It were done quickly.

I just finished reading James Islington’s “The Will of the Many.” It’s far and away the best book I read this year-probably the best I’ve read in the last few years.

I’ve been a teacher for 20 years, and I’m honestly not sure how much longer I can go. The day-to-day has become such a miserable slog. I really need to do something else, it’s just so hard to change careers two decades in.

The George R.R. Martin Summer Intensive Writing Workshop is for mid-career journalists interested in trying their hands at fiction. IT'S BASICALLY FREE. George endowed the whole thing. I will help judge applications and may make a cameo at the workshop ... www.medill.northwestern.edu/journalism/p...

have we eaten on the insane root That takes the reason prisoner?

The Dolphins find themselves in the worst place in sports, stuck squarely in the middle. Not bad enough to bottom out, not good enough to actually compete in meaningful games.

Shrinking is the best show running, and I’m not sure it’s close.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are Superstars. Incredible performances.

The opening line of Dave Grohl’s memoir “The Storyteller,” “Sometimes I forget that I’ve aged,” struck me harder than any first line has in quite a while.

This should be fun. #JoKoy

So I’ve listened to Linkin Park’s new album From Zero a few times through now and I love it. It’s a legitimately good album, one that sounds off in unique and interesting ways (like each new album would) yet also feels authentically LP. I’m so happy for them.
