First field trip today in search of Bankesia conspurcatella. Unfortunately, no adult males but we did find some cases. I’d appreciate any input on ids and/or possibilities. I’m wondering about conspurcatella, Dahlica triquetrella and Luffia lapidella #norfolkmoths #teammoth

Soak up that atmosphere! Cley #norfolkbirding

Amongst the Dark-bellied Brent Goose flock at Cley were two ‘speckle-headed’ birds - first time I’ve caught up with both, that have been around for a while. There was a Dark-bellied/Pale-bellied pair being quite territorial #norfolkbirding

Had an enjoyable time with the Dark-bellied Brent Goose flock along Beach Rd, Cley. Amongst the flock were a number of ‘pale-bellied’ birds. I might have been looking too long as I started to get v confused over what was what! Any thoughts, people? #norfolkbirding @markgolley.bsky.social (again!)

This looks great! Looking forward to receiving my copy! I wonder if there’s anything on moths?! 😉

Whooper Swan showing we at Cley today. I didn’t see it fly but it definitely like to wander about the marsh, eventually ending up behind the Brent Goose flock #norfolkbirding

First proper pot twitch of the year! Agonopterix umbellana (Gorse Buff), a heathland specialist, with only a few records in Norfolk each year. Only the 2nd one I’ve seen, so worth the trip. Thanks to Clive and good to see a few of the ‘gang’ come along, too #norfolkmoths #teammoth

First double-figure species catch of the year, overnight. Acleris logiana and Hebrew Character both NFY, amongst 25 of 11. Pale Brindled Beauty led the way, with a 2nd Satellite of the year. VC28 #norfolkmoths #teammoth

Online talk this week!

The floodgates have open … with a trickle! 20 moths of 5 species, with March Moth NFY and a high of 14 Pale Brindled Beauty. It was fun to find some moths actually in the traps. VC28 West Norfolk #norfolkmoths #teammoth

Anyone want to buy a birding scope cheaply? I have a mint condition Viking ED pro 80mm scope, with a HD zoom eyepiece and waterproof stay-on case. I don’t use it at all, and it’s gathering dust. Would cost over 1k new, but I’ll accept much, much less to get it out of the way. #birdinggear

Sadly, this fantastic Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm f/4 IS PRO lens has to go. For further details, please visit www.richardlewington.co.uk Repost appreciated

Let there be moths! A massive 4 moths of 3 species, last night! 2 Pale Brindled Beauty, T alternella and Dark Chestnut. Here’s hoping the wind doesn’t dampen (!?) tonight’s catch #norfolkmoths #teammoth

As I was searching through 1000s of Pink-footed Geese for a single Lesser White-fronted Goose, back in January, you’d told me that I’d have seen 34 a month later, I’d have laughed! That’s birding! #norfolkbiding
