A problem with using algebra tiles is that it is an area model, and often the areas are not the same when an equation is modelled with algebra tiles. Easily fixed with Amplify POLYPAD app variable x and y tiles #iTeachMaths #UKMathsChat

Teaching year 8 about polygons in #MathsToday and they were exploring why only some shapes tesselate. Using the Polypad online manipulatives was brilliant and they had a great time creating some "exciting" tiling patterns. polypad.amplify.com/p#polygons
