I've just lived some kind of writing cliché: While I was lying in bed last night trying to go to sleep, the perfect final sentence for my WIP popped into my head fully formed, and I dutifully wrote down. I am NOT saying that Alice Munro was a psychopath, but there's an interesting parallel here: Psychopaths do not have natural empathy, but they can imagine the internal lives of others if prompted; Munro did not show empathy to her husband's victims, but she imagined their experiences in her stories.
