Happy Match Day, and thanks to @jbcarmody for continuing to do this thorough and important analysis!

You know why I love a hepatectomy? It always de-livers! I just made that up and am amused with myself. But also appropriately disappointed.

From JAMA Cardiology: South African regulations limiting sodium in processed foods were associated with reductions in sodium consumption and blood pressure among rural adults aged 40 years or older. ja.ma/4hMWyUW #CardioSky

Update on ALA treatment for cystinuria reveals we have a long way to go before nephrologists will be satisfied with evidence that it is effective and safe. Also, no one has supplied a viable mechanism of action. #rock2015

"Let's take a walk through the nephron and focus on calcium" is how kidney stone nephrologists say, "I love you." @R.O.C.K. Society Annual Meeting 2025

I love this thread because it illustrates the niche expertise hidden all around us.

Eloquent opinion piece:

Great article!

A perfect 0.01 act play. >chef's kiss<

I've always assumed that people who drink ethylene glycol do it because they've internally asked themselves, "I wonder what it's like to have primary hyperoxaluria, types 1, 2, or 3?"

I wish there was an award for who most diligently updates Family History and Social History in Epic.

Fun fact: cystinuria was the first of the genetic kidney stone diseases to be characterized. Garrod presented his findings at the 1908 Croonian Lectures in London. Primary hyperoxaluria was the next to be described, and that was in 1925 by Lepoutre.

Says a lot about Tyson that my son is going to watch a Tyson fight with his friends just the way I did in high school.

I love a deep dive into our college admissions processes.

It was fun while it lasted. My nearly-2-day reign atop the #medsky kidney stone world has abruptly come to an end now that @weddellite.bsky.social has shown up. Ladies and Gentlemen, please join me in welcoming the World Famous Dr. David Goldfarb to Bluesky!

So how are we denominalizing (verbing) around here? "I Blueskeed about this very disease earlier this morning." I Skeed? I Skyed? I Butterflied? We need a consensus.

One of my favorite underrecognized serious kidney diseases? Dent disease! Many of my Dent patients have male relatives with CKD/ESKD either "of unknown origin" or misdiagnosed as FSGS.

Officially deactivated my Twitter account. One might say I got rid of that annoying smell, that... Musk.

I'm pronouncing it 'BLOO-skee and you can't stop me.
