Dogme masterpiece #Festen in which a patriarch’s 60th celebration is derailed when family secrets are revealed, works beautifully as opera. Lee Hall’s libretto is smart & witty; Mark-Anthony Turnage’s score shifts ably twixt beauty & discord, & Nicky Gillibrand’s 70s Scandi-flavoured costumes great

Me?! A former latchkey kid from a cooncil estate in Gateshead at the Royal Opera House?! The arts community would never countenance such a thing!

The Kane Gang announce that, unfortunately, we must postpone our Glasgow St Luke’s concert due to Martin Brammer suffering a back injury. Martin has sent a message to explain the severity & we wish him a speedy recovery. The new date for the show will be Sunday 6th April & we will update…(1/2)

This is out today

Documentary portrait of celebrated photographer 'I Am Martin Parr' is as mischievous, bracing and enjoyable as a cheeky 99 in a breezy coastal town, but it's also good on the sociological and political aspect of his work. Insightful input from Grayson Perry & Parr's Magnum colleagues. #IAmMartinParr

Shades of Tricky in the slurred, woozy vocals & grungey loops, along with garage beats & shimmering keyboards, with ‘that fashion girl from Hackney’ John Glacier at Village Underground. Sampha turned up for Ocean Steppin’ too - which was nice #JohnGlacier #Sampha

Howay everybody, everybody get doon, it’s Thursday neet & we’re gannin’ to Shoreditch Toon (to see John Glacier at Village Underground)

Tonight's gig

Day 51 #ObliqueStrategies2025

Coming on like a Riot Girl at a poetry slam, a shaven-headed Brie Larson commands the stage as the titular vengeful Princess in Daniel Fish’s stark & uncompromising take on Sophocles’s #Elektra at Duke of York’s Theatre. Staging austere & effective, & chorus’s harmonies eerily beautiful.

Off to theatre, might get ice cream 🎭 🍦
