BREAKING news from @ryansuppe.bsky.social www.idahoednews.org/top-news/gov...

I love this reel of W players sharing their Taurasi stories. www.instagram.com/reel/DGi3MYS...

The Idaho House of Representatives on Tuesday threw bipartisan, unanimous support behind a bill that would create a media shield law protecting sources who provide confidential information or documents to journalists. #idleg #idpol

Taurasi leaves her basketball career as the most decorated woman to ever play, with three WNBA titles, three NCAA titles and six Olympic gold medals to her name.

A North Idaho lawmaker pushing for Medicaid expansion reform introduced a new bill meant to contain expansion’s costs — without the threat of repealing the voter-approved law. #idleg idahocapitalsun.com/2025/02/25/i...

Our shield law proposal just passed the Idaho House unanimously, without any debate. :) On to the Senate! Here's the Sandpoint Reader's coverage of our hearing last week, as well as an explainer on what the proposal would do: sandpointreader.com/house-commit... #1A #journalism #Idaho #idleg

JUDGE COLLEEN KOLLAR-KOTELLY: Is there an administrator of DOGE at the present time? GOVERNMENT COUNSEL: I don’t know the answer to that

Just got word that John W. York has directed Treasury employees to comply with Musk's request to document their work over the last week. York is a former Heritage Foundation policy analyst. Last week, the NYT and Politico reported he is now a senior counselor at Treasury.

For folks following what happened at the Coeur d'Alene #Idaho town hall, @kayethornbrugh.bsky.social has a fantastic update. Give her a follow. Support local journalism. #idleg

UPDATE: The Coeur d’Alene Press spoke with the woman who was dragged out of a town hall for heckling legislators, confirmed which security firm worked the event and spoke with Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris and Coeur d’Alene Police Chief Lee White about the events.

I'll be on Idaho Matters on @boisestatepublicradio.org at noon to talk about the need for this law! #Idaho

Supporters of the bill said it would create similar protections to those in place for whistleblowers and it would help combat frivolous lawsuits.

We made it out of committee without a single no vote. :) Onto the House!

The biggest line item on the site of Musk’s cost-cutting team appears to include an error. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/u...

The media shield law/source confidentiality bill is up for a public hearing in House Jud and Rules on Wednesday at 1:30 pm MT. Wish us luck, friends. 🫡

A watchdog report, released in 2024 by the Office of Performance Evaluations, an independent state agency, found deaths in Idaho were half as likely to undergo autopsies than the national rate — and that Idaho had the lowest homicide autopsy rate in the nation.

I’m in beautiful, snowy downtown McCall for a protest planned in support of fired federal workers, especially Forest Service folks who are an important part of the local community. Follow here for how things go. My instinct says a decent crowd is likely.

I've seen posts that multiple USFS workers in Valley County lost their jobs, along with SNRA employees in Custer County. Today, protests in Idaho Falls, McCall, and Boise. Any others?

In other news, a reworked bill would allow voters to elect five State Board of Education members. www.idahoednews.org/state-policy...

From @idahoreports.org director Morgan McCollum: Several hundred people showed up in the rain for the Presidents Day protest against Trump, Musk and DOGE at the Idaho Capitol in Boise. #Idaho

Hi, media friends. It's me, your Journalist Work Mom Pal. Do things seem overwhelming right now? Is there too much to cover and not enough time or resources? Here are some things that have helped me.

“I can’t overemphasize the fact that this is a serious, serious, operational problem,” Randall Hardy, an energy consultant and former administrator of BPA, said about the staff losses. “The reliability impacts of this could be very serious. I mean the lights go out. Unplanned outages.”

Laraine, Gilda, and Jane, together again.

Re-upping this for federal workers in Idaho. If you've been laid off or are worried about how DOGE will affect your employment, please reach out. If you're worried about going on the record, I'll do everything I can to protect your identity. #Idaho

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

This SNL concert is among the best music broadcasts I've ever seen.
