The Xcode 16.3 beta is out and this version of Xcode comes with a new Swift version. Learn about what I think the most important new features in Swift 6.1 are in this post: https://www.donnywals.com/whats-new-in-swift-6-1/

being a solo dev means... if you need to code, you code... if you need to edit the sound, you learn that too 😅

Introducing Spices, a Swift package for creating in-app debug menus by generating native UI from Swift 🫙🌶️ We've used Spices in our iOS apps at Shape for over a decade and thought it was time to share it with the Swift community! 🫶 👉 github.com/shapehq/spices

Hot take: if you’re waiting to support dark mode before shipping a new product, you’re shipping too late.

Added a dark icon for Quiet. It's the least voted feature but I guess it makes sense to make the icon fit nicely with other apps in dark mode.

I have been coding with the help of Cursor in the last days and well... it's amazing when you know how to set it up and make it a proper iOS app development IDE. Let me show you how to set it up: 1. Download & install Cursor: www.cursor.com #iOS #Cursor #SwiftUI 👇🏼 More steps in the thread

Interesting research showing when you rely on GenAI to do large amounts of work for you, your critical thinking skills can degrade. Bonus: A CS professor and a bunch of Microsoft researchers referring to humans using their brains to evaluate weird AI output as "exception handling" […]

Everyone is talking about using AI to code. Just tab tab tab. And I'm here going through generated code line by line and cross checking with docs and stackoverflow. Am I just becoming old and cannot keep up with the new way to do stuff? 🥲

@cahixson.bsky.social @mikeschmitz.bsky.social my personal opinion on action items: they are optional to do. Book is meant to be read. Even if we don't do anything, a few ideas would still stick with us. Imagine if you go to the gym and only work out for 10 minutes...

Just added the dark mode for Quiet. I don't like the default pure black. It's just hard on my eyes. But I'm not a designer. This took me a lot of time to play around with the colors until my eyes say "good enough". Gonna just trust my eyes for now.

Imagine tidying your home. If you have too much stuff and less space, you will have a hard time no matter what organization technique you're using. In reverse, if you have less stuff and a lot of space, you will have an easy time even if you have no clue what you are doing.

I am surprised by the number of positive and encouraging comments my latest video on mastering Color views in #SwiftUI has received. Glad that people are finding the content useful. Perhaps you might find something there for you too. youtu.be/w_YjwL3r-ts

Brilliant idea 😅
