Thanks to the local groups I met during the Easter recess. The Senedd returns to business this week and here is a taste of the week ahead. For many of us this will be our first time meeting in the old chamber as the newer Siambr undergoes building work in preparation for the next Senedd.

There’s been a lot of excitement about football in Merthyr this season, but we also have a magnificent rugby team who have done brilliantly and secured the Admiral Premiership Championship! Well done Merthyr RFC #Ironmen. We are a very proud sporting town! 🏉⚽️

As Culture Minister, I was so pleased to support the making of Havoc for Netflix at Great Point Studios in Wales. Wales is the 3rd largest creative hub in the UK, delivering huge benefit to the Welsh economy. Thanks to my colleague @[email protected] who continues to support this work.

Bridging the Gap Youth - Merthyr has been open for 18 years as an afterschool and holiday club for children with ALN aged 3 - 19 years. Great to see the support being offered to these young people and their families. Thanks to the team and the children for a very warm welcome.

The largest investment in the constituency has been the A465 Heads of the valleys road improvement. Thankfully after the disruption of construction work the end is getting close. Major investment delivered. A safer road and better connected communities.

Great to see members of the Forever Young group at the Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre and congratulate them on their recent National Lottery award Next door was the Exercise by Referral group and I know how that scheme is also helping to transform lives and keep people healthier. Well done all.

I was pleased to update the Senedd about funding for the Baby Bundle scheme which will remove some of the financial pressure families face in some of the most deprived areas of Wales and help deliver against our Child Poverty Strategy commitment to reduce costs and maximise the income of families.

This was always going to be his next move. Over to you people of USA.

A very windy catch up with Mike Cummine of Future Valleys this morning. @dawnbowden.bsky.social, Vikki Howells MS and I are pleased to see the progress being made, and hear that completion is still on track for early summer. The end is in sight!

An uplifting and inspiring evening at the St David’s Awards in the Senedd Cymru last night. Winners from all walks of life doing amazing things in public service, volunteering, culture, sport and business. The First Minister’s Soecial Award went to writer, director and actress, Ruth Jones.

Some of the Welsh Government announcements this week including an uplift in funding for 2025/26 arising from consequential spending in the UK Spring statement.

We have a number of great childcare settings in the constituency. This morning I made a constituency visit to Little Inspirations Day Nursery in Gellideg who provide a range of care offers. Thanks to Neil, Angharad, the staff and children for the welcome - and the smiles.

I was very pleased speak at the Exellence in Care Awards in Cardiff last night and pay tribute to the army of social care workers making such a difference to peoples lives across Wales. Diolch yn fawr
