If you haven't checked out Jemar Tisby's books on the Spirit of Justice, here's a reminder to do so. So far we've only gotten the children's book, but he also has a book for older children and one for adults. These are important stories to remember! #blackhistorymonth @jemartisby.bsky.social

“Labeling the contributions of a pastor’s wife as ‘ministry’ or ‘service’ doesn’t erase the reality that a pastor’s job often includes the unpaid labor of his wife.” #BecomingThePastorsWife @bethallisonbarr BethAllisonBarr.com

Just for fun - saw these two in my back yard today. They were pretty fun to watch. #wildlife #foxes #nature

I recently finished reading "The Marriage You Want." It's already given my partner and me fodder for some good discussion. If you're looking to get married or improve your marriage, I really recommend you start with this book. (https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/7334392265 ) #booksky #marriage

We read a lot of children's books here and I thought I'd start keeping track of the ones I like but don't own. I probably won't post them all here, but some maybe worth it. #booksky #childrensbooks #disability #friendship

As a Christian who has lived in Jerusalem, I find it so important to listen when the Patriarchs of various churches join together to make a statement. #JerusalemPatriarchs #Christianity #Gaza #Israel

As a love of Austen, I gave this retelling of Mansfield park a try. Here's my review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/... #Austen #booksky

This is my home town area. I don't understand why anyone thinks these cuts were a good idea? The chaos and harm that will result...

Always exciting to see what new insights or old maps Chandler will bring to the study of Jerusalem.

Personally, I love used bookstores because you never know what you might come across. I know a "new" book store might have things I want, but mostly they'll have dozens of copies of books I don't want to read. A used bookstore has zero duplicates and surprised around every corner.

PSA for today: numbers area important. Numbers without context are less than worthless. If the news you are following or the memes you are seeing don’t include relevant context for the numbers they use, you should be asking why.

My new research assistant?

Trying to keep better track of my reading (and thoughts on what I'm reading) this year. Finished "The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry" audio book. It was fine, but not great. (Would I have rated it differently if I didn't have friends who loved it? Maybe.) Review on Goodreads: 📚💙 #booksky

Currently reading "Excavating the Evidence for Jesus" and this comes up. Friend, cold is only one aspect of why it is unlikely that shepherds would have been in the (new plowed and planted) fields with their sheep. He knows a lot of ancient sources, but so far, not impressed with his geography.

This is an important discussion to have, and while we might agree or disagree with some of the conclusions in this video, we must wrestle with it. The end part about understanding the original context and then trying to understand what the text would have meant there? That's what I want to do.

When people complain that the God of the Old Testament is angry and wrathful, I figured they must have missed parts like this:

Always exciting when you find reference books at the thrift store ❤️📖📚

Trying out a new social media platform for my new YouTube channel. I want teach about the physical settings of the Bible in a way that the average church-goer can understand, and give resources for other to teach as well. If we want to live out our faith well, we must understand the Bible well.
