Bravo to Richard Young of Minneapolis for this letter to the editor in the Salt Lake Tribune.

You do not, under any circumstances, have to hand it to Rocks and Cows Minnesota

In Southampton, Long Island — my homeland; we were townies — an election issue is traffic. Not just any traffic … from the “trade parade” — literally so many contractors working on mansions that they’re weekday rush hour. The hoardes you need to serve your mega-house can’t live anywhere near you!

Would it shock you to know Amy Klobuchar voted to confirm him & Tina Smith didn’t?

Want to say a nice word for the Trib; Minnesota people might not realize Salt Lake City has a Democratic mayor & that the Trib has long been a counterweight to the Mormon-owned Deseret News. SLC is no liberal paradise but it’s no MAGA hellhole. As in every deep-red state, a lot of good people there.

Wedge Live publishes deeper, more insightful reporting about Minneapolis and its politics than any other news outlet, and it’s not even really close. Old school, shoe-leather reporting. If you want to understand this city better, here’s the best $5/mo you can spend: www.patreon.com/wedgelive

Well, we’ve reached the “Dean Phillips pops up on Bari Weiss’s site to #bothsides-scold everyone” part of the assassination story.

This is a lovely, heartbreaking piece from Colorado by a friend of the Hortman’s son.

I think people unfamiliar with Minnesota/ns are possibly missing the underlying fury in this staffer’s words. Whether you call it Minnesota Nice or passive aggressive, we are pretty good at making our anger sound considerate. “Let’s recap so you fully understand” isn’t a whimper, it’s a threat.

Campaign Finance Board ruled Minneapolis Council candidate Becka Thompson’s complaint so baseless they didn’t even get to the question of whether they’re news media. (Was kinda rooting for this since pro-Frey folks do their inferior work through the Minneapolis Times.) cfb.mn.gov/pdf/bdaction...

I am once again reminding everyone that the alternative health obsession with beef tallow is because of McDonald's french fries, which is the basis of everyone complaining about seed oils, and has expanded into a miracle substance like ivermectin did. Getting into "wellness" makes you an easy mark.

Can’t find any votes, but I’d guess the Hortmans opposed the death penalty.

I am just so sad. All this horror because a man hates women's choice over their body and hates queer people.

#Minneapolis what local ( #Minnesota) tenants rights groups do you know? I volunteer with @moreneighbors.org #NeighborsForMoreNeighbors and they'll have some subgrants to give out next month

I'm sorry, WHAT?

This is continued journalistic malpractice from the @startribune.com normalizing a violent white male suspect. He owned a private security company called Praetorian Guard, traveled overseas to preach against abortion and LGBTQ+ people, and attended a bible college that preaches "violent prayer."

I realize Boelter could’ve chosen death-by-cop but I hope the suicide watch is better than Epstein’s.

What a fucking country

I'm back @mprnews.org after 10 months away for a Nieman fellowship (part time as I teach a course for Harvard this summer). I'm a bit nervous, but convinced our society needs ethical, critical and independent journalism now more than ever. Don't hesitate to send news tips my way!

Last night’s dream: a 1950s sitcom opener about an urban Elks-type lodge populated by a bunch of wacky alcoholics engaging in light-pole-climbing shenanigans, and the group of expatriate fully uniformed Nazis who lived upstairs, simmering over the shenanigans. The head Nazi was played by Lou Reed.

Making this literally true:

PSA on MN law. First-degree murder requires a grand jury indictment in MN. Folks who get prosecuted for first-degree murder are first charged with second-degree murder, which does not require a grand jury indictment. That’s just a placeholder charge until prosecutors can get to the grand jury.

MPR News confirms that Vance Boelter, the suspected killer of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark - is in custody. Details to come.

Kinda glad not to be in Minnesota this week

Not *quite* this but we have people in our neighborhood who share custody of a dog. (They’re not divorced, no intimate relationship I know of.) Simply, the dog moves every couple of weeks back and forth, or when one party goes on vacation.
