THEY HAVE DEPORTED A TWO YEAR OLD CHILD BIRTHRIGHT CITIZEN This is why I have no patience anymore for people playing games with this stuff.

The average life expectancy in the U.S. has increased by 10 years since 1960 due to vaccines, and better disease prevention, diagnosis, and management. This increased lifespan would quite obviously carry with it a higher rate of chronic disease diagnosis. But RFK Jr. thinks it’s seed oils.

NYT: One estimate finds that DOGE’s “firings, re-hirings, lost productivity and paid leave of thousands of workers” will actually COST taxpayers “upward of $135 billion this fiscal year.” @nytimes.com 🤡 www.nytimes.com/2025/04/24/u...

This is insane and everyone involved needs to be sued into oblivion and then go directly to jail

It is absolutely fucking bonkers that Trump won more of the vote than he ever had less than half a year ago and now he is less popular than he’s ever been, all on the strength of shit he was promising loudly to do when people elected him.

Alarming new study in JAMA modeling measles in the US: If we stay at CURRENT vaccination rates, measles will become endemic again over roughly 20 years. If rates drop by even 10 percent (and they're sliding), there would be 11 MILLION cases over the next 25 years. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

Trump appealing to Putin’s concern for the lives of rank and file soldiers should probably get this done

Who could have possibly foreseen this development?! danieldrezner.substack.com/p/the-art-of...

open.substack.com/pub/immunolo... This is a good piece that gets into the details of how food safety regulations actual work. It’s extremely unlikely that banning food dyes will have any positive effect on human health.

Do traders have Stockholm Syndrome? Rally today appears based on WSJ report that we might have "only" 50-65% tariff on Chinese goods. That's still a huge effing tariff - roughly triple the average effective tariff rate on China last year. US companies still don't have margins to absorb this

We survived with no income tax because federal spending (%GDP) was 90% smaller - basically a small military, some veterans pensions, and post offices. Oh, that 1890 tariff was followed by the 1893 depression. And 1913 real per capita GDP was just 1/15 today's level. Otherwise, right on. 🙄

Trump clearly has no clue about what happened in 2014. ”Without a shot being fired” 🤮 Has he ever questioned the legitimacy of Russia invading another country? No. And it is easier to blame Obama than solving the problem. And btw boasting - isn’t Trump like the uncrowned king of boasting?

If doctors didn’t go to medical school and got all their information from vibes and facebook and practiced vibes based medicine this is what they might sound like

A good way to boost American manufacturing would be for Musk to focus on his car company rather than on destroying American government.

👇🎯 Again, your periodic reminders that it is not the 1950s anymore, the median voter works in the nontradable services sector, therefore she experiences international trade <only> as a consumer, the balance of payments has two sides, & the mercantilism is just going to make everyone a lot poorer.

it’s extremely cool how a weird car-brained leftist who got appointed to the head of the California Senate Housing Committee could end up being singlehandedly responsible for destroying democrats’ electoral college prospects in the 2030s

Excuse me what

there's a county in Alabama where Black people are literally getting sick because the government doesn't provide a working sewer system, and Trump's Justice Department is trying to keep it that way apparently Black people with indoor plumbing is "illegal DEI" ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...

sure what the hell. Announce thirteen billion percent tariffs next. 73 quintillion percent. eleventy gabillion percent. 29 brazillian percent. 35 dodecagorillion percent. who cares.

Almost every line of this story would have been simply unbelievable a few months ago: —Pioneering cancer researcher; —*Arrested* at airport in Boston; —Now indefinite ICE detention in Louisiana; —"Crime": not declaring some frog-embryo samples for research. Read it. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

High housing prices and homelessness are a policy choice that we are free to stop making at any time.

How Tariffs Affect Trade Deficits... ... a new paper with amazing trade economist Arnaud Costinot. Many politicians and the general public expect tariffs to reduce imports lower imports and thus work to close a trade deficit. Economists typically say "not so fast"... 🧵1/n

If he’s a criminal, he still has a right to due process where the government actually has to prove he committed these crimes. If he’s not (which seems much more likely), then we sent a man with legal status to a gulag for no reason. Both are bad!

The White House has turned COVID.gov from a public health resource into a politically charged platform promoting the lab-leak theory and attacking specific scientists and the pandemic response in general. Let’s fact check its 5 headline claims… 🧵

once again reminding folks that putting top secret information onto your phone is illegal and unsafe regardless of who you add to the chat or what app you choose to send it with. Even if you only add the one person who should get it, and you only use signal, it is still illegal and unsafe.

Crude prices may be under pressure atm, but keep in mind that WTI is roughly $100 higher* over the past five years *as of today and today only

Never forget that the richest man in the world chose to take food from the mouths of the world’s poorest children. Burn in hell.

When I criticize the tariffs it’s not bc I don’t care about US manufacturing. In part it’s bc the tariffs will *hurt* US manufacturing.

This guy blames the Biden admin for “not enforcing” the phase 1 trade deal with China, but that’s untrue. The Chinese did not meet their import commitments when Trump was in office (in 2020) and Biden didn’t remove Trump’s tariffs on China.

Used cars. LOL. 🤡 www.cargurus.com/research/pri...

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

You guys Elon Musk appointed the head of the IRS and President Trump didn’t even know about it.

me: i have a bunch of anxiety rn brain: how bout a coffee me: idk sounds like a bad idea brain: iced coffee me: ok yeah that makes more sense

The White House is contradicting the Justice Department who stated in a court filing that the deportation was the result of an error.

We believe pollution causes autism. That is why we are gutting the EPA. by Lee Zeldin and RFK Jr.

Ok so yeah, this has quickly become the #1 misunderstanding about the canceled grants the grants are not “subsidies” or “entitlements” to Harvard or Princeton or whatever they aren’t going into universities’ endowments they are competitive contracts won by these universities to do research

Good morning with good news: Renewables plus nuclear generated 50.84% of US electricity in March, exceeding the 50% level for the first time since at least 1950. How? Skyrocketing Wind & Solar Share: 3/25: 24.4% 3/24: 20.8% 3/23: 18.7% 3/20: 12.5% 3/15: 5.7% Ember Data. #energysky #greensky

During the campaign, Trump said it would be so easy to end the war in Ukraine he could do it in 24 hours and in fact would do it before being inaugurated. Three months after his inauguration, his chief diplomat now says it is so hard he may stop trying. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/18/w...

Just a reminder that Trump/DOJ continuing to let Abrego Garcia sit in CECOT is *a crime*. Deprivation of rights under color of law is a crime. Was it an "error" at first? Maybe. But once they were aware of the error, and ordered by a judge to return him, and then refusing, it's willful 1/
