Maybe the reason all these dudes are holding fish in their profile pics is because one of the only socially acceptable times for a dude to ask someone to take a picture of them is after they catch a fish?

This book wrecked me.

“[W]e need the books that affect us like a disaster, … A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us.” —Franz Kafka

Can't believe I let this sit in my tbr pile for like three years. This book kicks ass. Think John Barth x George Saunders. Fuckin beautiful.

This is who I am.

My big brother would've turned 52 on Dec 21st. I miss him so much.

The lowercase cursive m is so badass. You start it and just keep swooping and swooping and swooping. I enjoy it every goddamn time.

If I ever taught a seminar on narrative voice I think I'd start it off by making everyone read Junie B. Jones. Going through the whole series with my daughter these days and they're making a lot of other ( grownup) stuff I'm reading seem kinda boring.

Lenore: Captain Kirk, who are you to say what harm was done? Kirk: Who do I have to be?

I usually feel great but sometimes I'm this tomato.

My @ghoulish.bsky.social order came with a very nice bookmark and sticker. (Sticker not pictured because it's already in my amp).

Working at on the novel at the roller rink today. Sorta weird.

In every novel I've written, there's always been a point where I'm like, "I think this should actually be a sorta of a half-comic book, half-fairy tale thing" and I get pretty excited about that and eventually give it up and write a regular novel.

This year I'm going with a 23 lb butterball. Not getting cute with it. Just going to punch this big bastard straight up the middle. A hard nosed smash mouthed old school thanksgiving.

Noel: You could've waiting until morning to ask me that, captain. Kirk: I didn't. --Dagger of the Mind

November starts off as October's hangover but she sure can sneak up on you with a kind of quiet majesty.

The first act of the Corbomite Maneuver's got some of the best Kirk/Bones dialogue out there. I think that's one of the first episodes in TOS where it really seems like two real people taking to each other.

This one is lotsa story packed into a pretty small space. Super voicey, huge doomy mood.

Losing a nephew and a dear friend to cancer in the past year has sent an important message into my life. I want to share it with you. You don't have the time you think you have. Do the thing.

I read this collection by Rios De La Luz because it was nominated for the Wonderland Award. It's awesome!
