Hi! Do you think of yourself as ableist? Or do you think, of course I don’t think disabled people have less value than others! If I click on your video and it’s not captioned? It’s not getting watched. Show us that your deaf viewers matter as much to you as others. Caption your videos.

When you apparently talk about Michael Sheen so much on your phone that every time you swype text “when,” it comes out as sheen. And yes, I had to manually type WHEN every time in this post so that it didn’t come out as sheen.

The White House has recently released an initiative called “Make America Healthy Again.” The language used in the official statement has been concerning to many in the disabled and neurodivergent communities. I have read it, and while I personally think the ableist language is subtle and buried,

My love of Good Omens was never connected to any feelings about the authors, so I continue to enjoy it w/o connecting my feelings to one author. I would imagine it may be complex for those that had previous positive feelings for him. I hope ppl stop demonizing each other for thinking differently.

A friend was at our house last night and ordered a ride. The driver came, saw my friends white cane and left, telling dispatch that “he can’t help this guy because he has a bad back.”

Me: tells my husband about Michael Sheen funding a new theater in Wales. Husband: I love hearing about people putting their money where their mouth is. 7 yo old daughter: Why would you eat your money? 😂😂😂

Stop being irritated by disabled people's anger at society and the government for exclusion, ableism, and inaccessibility. Instead: Be angry with us. #Disability #HumanRights #SDGs #Equity #Ableism #AXSChat #WeAreBillionStrong

My 7 year old daughter asked why I have “cracks” in my glasses. After I explained the concept of bifocals to her, she looked at me and simply said, “That makes no sense,” and walked away. Yeah, that’s about right.

I just finished reading “Write Now!” by @barrowmember.bsky.social & it certainly gave me a lot to think about. Conundrum: when your topic is niche (disability awareness) but you want to reach a wider audience than those that already pay attention to it… The former is who really NEEDS to hear it!

2025 Intentions: Read. Two books per month: one to stretch my thinking, and one for enjoyment. Write. Complete a rough draft of my memoir: 4,000 words per month. Move. Yoga/walk for 15 minutes, 3x a week. Focus word: Connection. With my children, husband, God, family, friends, and self.

I grabbed this - maybe it might be something you’re interested in, too?

I think for 2025 my reading goals will include one book each month that makes me think (nonfiction, historical fiction, or the like) and one book each month that is pure enjoyment.

Someone tell me to stop bothering with Threads. That place stresses me out. Why are some platforms so dang confrontational? I appreciate the Bluesky vibe so much.

When you wake up a little bit tired because you were dreaming about advocating for accessibility at a museum. Gotta love living with disability.

If I don’t have my hearing aid on, I watch this without sound and rely on captions on videos. One thing I’ve realized recently is that I can tell if it is a British or American in the video just from the way their mouth moves. Gotta love lip reading accents!! #disability #disabilityrocks

I added alt text to a bunch of photos on my private Facebook page and thought about a couple things. 1) Accessibility features often take time (alt text, captions on videos, transcriptions, etc). But it matters. 2) Alt text for a public page looks different than private. See comments for example
