Antidepressants quite literally saved my life, but sure, some grifter with a brain worm knows what’s best for me. #RFKJr

ME: and the hell, is it fresh? 2025: oh yes, the freshest

I don’t even know where to begin with what it means to be without Nikki Giovanni. Dear Nikki, Grappling with your work brought out the best writing I have ever done. You were a Martian, born in Knoxville, TN. May you rest in peace, #NikkiGiovanni. thebaffler.com/salvos/becom...

New book recommendation! Sky Full of Elepjants is a beautifully written, heartfelt story of generational trauma, the legacies of white supremacy, and remaking the world anew. Highly recommend! Thanks @simonbooks.bsky.social for my gifted copy!

Public library energy is the best energy. Like here is all the knowledge we could find, it's been meticulously organized and vetted and it will cost you nothing today, welcome to the absolute pinnacle of human civic evolution, feel free to pull up any bean bag chair you like

All I want is a cottage in the Scottish Highlands, a raging snowstorm, and Agatha Christie novel, a crackling fire, a kettle on the stove, and a basket of emotional support pastries.

Sapphic vampire novella written a few decades before Dracula. Equally frustrating and fascinating. Highly recommend reading this version with Carmen Maria Machado’s commentary.

I am really obsessed with this series - it’s delightful!

Yes, libraries are invaluable for their collections and public services they offer, but also social contact without the expectation to interact with anyone or spend any money is so important to so many people

I’m sitting in the lobby at an Urgent Care and am wearing a mask (because I’m clearly sick). Almost everyone else in here is also sick (sneezing, wheezing, coughing) and not a single one is masked. We are a doomed society.

I’m really digging into heartfelt escapism these days. This one was adorable. 🥰

Bluer skies indeed. ♥️

My word of the day (and personal recommendation) is ‘snerdling’ (18th century): nestling cosily beneath the covers and holding off the day a little longer. Morning.

Sums up the current state of the US politics

speaker johnson refuses to release the report because it's even worse than anyone thinks theory almost confirmed abcnews.go.com/US/exclusive...

Is this a glitch from increased user traffic or is this something I need to fix myself?

Many libraries also have cultural passes, ie FREE tickets to local museums, etc that you can check out. Libraries are amazing. ✌🏻

So…Gaetz.

people who use goodreads: jeff bezos owns goodreads and if you want a better alternative there is a black woman owned company called storygraph that you can use to replace it. you can transfer all of your data from goodreads to storygraph and have your mind be free of trumpie jeff bezos! win win. 💙

Don't look at the news Don't look at the news Don't look at the news (Looks at the news) Oh, for fuck's sake

If you’re looking for some escapism, I recently read this one and loved it. Cozy romantasy. ♥️

Love it when an old meme comes back with a vengeance.

I mentally blocked out November ‘16. How are people handling teaching right now? I’m getting some heart wrenching concerns from students and I’m really struggling to balance being honest with trying to keep their hopes up.

I won our 5th grade reading rainbow challenge and it’s still my favorite academic accomplishment (PhD? Meh).

Libraries are precious and beautiful and must be defended

The StoryGraph is soooo much better!

I wish we could prescribe books to each other. Sounds like you need two Flannery O’Connors! A little Octavia Butler ought to clear that up. Read sixteen Mary Oliver poems and call me in the morning.

Just going to leave this right here.
