Democrats who stop doing stuff like this as soon as the winds change are making it *very clear* what we knew all along: that they will only do the bare minimum and only if there are zero consequences to them. the exact opposite of having principles

Just awful: A 75-year-old man just died in ICE custody, ICE has revealed in a notice to Congress. But here's the rub: This man, a Cuban national, was first paroled into the US in 1966—nearly 60 years ago! They were set to deport him anyway. Details in my new piece: newrepublic.com/article/1974...

Tell me again who is enabling MS-13 gangbangers? Oh look: it’s trump.

Thankfully, Kyrsten Sinema saved the filibuster, ensuring bipartisan cooperation and thwarting bad bills until Republicans went "that can't be filibustered anymore" the first time big legislation they want to pass needed a 60 vote threshold.

The scary thing about this kind of tipping point (which, you know, is a common reality of tipping points) is that once you’re beyond it the crash is baked in. You can’t wait to see the effects before you work to cushion the blow—because when you’re seeing the effects it’s already too late.

Alaska Cannot Survive This Bill www.nytimes.com/2025/06/27/o... Murkowski vote to proceed will consign her to the worst of the worst Rs. She and Collins made passage possible. They need to hear from home states

Sen. Thom Tillis:  "I mean, if you've got to surprise or jam your conference to get something done, you're a pretty shitty legislator."

NEW: Kristi Noem, while governor of South Dakota, supplemented her roughly $130,000 salary by secretly accepting $80,000 donated to a political nonprofit she was affiliated with, records show. She never disclosed this income on federal ethics forms.

Between Trump attacking Tillis and Collins being forced to suck up to him, it feels like Democrats just picked up two Senate seats in 2026.

This appears to be a Republican senator attempting to *actually represent* his constituency. Fascinating 🤨

For all the boomers in my mentions yelling at how young people are dumb, a word: When you were young, young voters did not turn out. It's not any one generation. Young people don't vote. They didn't when you were young. Or when I was young. That's why this is so remarkable. They got us beat.

FYI, Jerry Nadler (who happens to be my Rep) is the longest serving Jewish member of the House, and the dean of NY's House delegation. But I'm sure non-Jews from outside New York have a better feel for what NY Jews think and their interests.

www.latimes.com/opinion/stor... Perfect lede: “When it comes to vaccines, virtually nothing that comes out of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s mouth is true.” Excellent demolition of this charlatan.

I think it is time to get the NY Democratic delegation out of leadership in the house and Senate. Time for something new.

I don't think the average American understands how many folks pay for nursing home care through Medicaid. It's not just poor people. This is oversimplifying but, the way our system is set up is that you sell everything you own to pay for it, then you apply for medicaid to pay for the rest.

Just when you forget about him, Lindsey Graham reminds you what a loathsome and dishonest politician he is.

We should all be disgusted by the flood of anti-Muslim remarks spewed in the aftermath of Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the NYC mayoral primary — some blatant, others latent. Shame on the members of Congress who have engaged in such bigotry and anyone who doesn’t challenge it.

Lisa Murkowski cuts a last minute deal solely to benefit Alaska, exempting it from some of the more odious parts of the bill to secure her vote and sell out the rest of the US. Yeah this stuff sucks and hurts a lot of people, but I got Alaskans exempted so the hell with you.

last night the republicans passed a budget to turn america into a nation of roving masked thugs and concentration camps and this is what democrats are doing still on sunday morning news programs instead of telling their interviewers to shut the fuck up and stop changing the subject

EVERYTHING THEY JUST SAID

Jake Tapper should be best understood now as someone who works in service of helping to launder GOP talking points. "those who truly need it & deserve it" is designed to be not just a softball to Katie Britt but a verbatim repeating of the GOPs lie of what their cuts will do & who they will effect.

🚨 New CBO analysis below. Looking at the immigration provisions, my read is that they project a cost to taxpayers of $172.8 billion dollars. That money is partially offset by $31.4 billion in new fees on legal immigration and tourism, plus $5.8 billion in new fees on other applications.

Remember Collins and Murkowski could have stopped this. People who lose healthcare coverage will die because of them

American exceptionalism

The U.S. Senate’s reconciliation bill will cause irreparable harm to North Carolina. It will rip health care away from hundreds of thousands of people and close rural hospitals, take food away from hungry children, and kill thousands of jobs in our booming clean energy economy. 1/2

No surprise. There are no moderates in the GOP Senate and House -- just proud MAGA and scared MAGA.

Republicans may lie about what's in their budget bill but the numbers sure don't.

The wildest part about us getting banned on instagram and threads and all meta platforms without warning or explanation is not even being able to get in touch with a human being about it. Dystopian, Orwellian shit.

“They Senate version would result in $930b in cuts to Medicaid, more than the about $800b the House version proposes. The House version of the legislation is so costly that it would force mandatory benefits cuts. The Senate’s bill is likely more expensive.” www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

www.nytimes.com/2025/06/28/a... No, Los Angeles is not "a city battered by protests," it is a city battered by MAGA secret police. C'mon!

I have and will argue that Musk’s shifting of media narratives, elevation of fascist voices, and breaking of moderation were the drawbridge that deserves much of the blame for allowing fascism to march (back) into the White House.

Psst... Josh... maybe you haven't heard but you're the *deciding vote* to take away health care from working people. It's going to be your legacy.

The symbolism is terrible

‘You can see the impact of these random raids everywhere in our city — families are scared to go eat at restaurants, kids are scared their parents aren’t going to return from the store’ www.latimes.com/california/s...

1/ If Justice Barrett thinks we need to go back to what the Founding Fathers intended, I’ve got news for her. Their biggest concern was avoiding tyranny. So they created 3 branches of gov’t & divvied up the power the people (that’s us) were allowing the gov’t to use to create order for all of us.

Forget the hands, whatever happened to class?

Or that the Navy named a ship after Peterson in 1943: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Pet...

Always good to be reminded that Claus von Bulow was the second worst person in Reversal of Fortune.

The masked agents pull up quickly. They jump out of unmarked vans. They wear blue jeans or battle fatigues. They approach Latinos, yelling and carrying assault rifles. If someone runs, they’re taken. If they don’t answer a question, they’re taken. If they can’t produce papers, they’re taken.

Spot on. This is the clearest explanation I’ve seen. It ‘s relatable, and humanizes the issue in a way everyone can understand.

It’s every parent’s nightmare, isn’t it? you check your child’s bulletproof backpack and find a picture book about gay penguins

Zohran Mamdani’s win has inspired over 3400 young people to raise their hands to run for office just since Tuesday. It’s now @runforsomething.net’s biggest candidate recruitment moment since the election. A new generation of leaders is here.
