My retired colleague, Tony Smith, passed away a few days ago. He taught at Tufts for 46 yrs. My office was next to his for 10 of them. Lots of long, thoughtful discussions w students. Whenever I meet PS alumni, they talk at length over what a great professor he was. www.legacy.com/us/obituarie...

In my latest essay with @politicsgenderj.bsky.social , I apply an intersectional framework to examine the 2024 election—analyzing how race, gender, and class shaped Harris’s campaign, and highlighting the organizing, voting behavior, and enduring activism of Black women.

Hey @douglasmack.bsky.social , at my local brewpub trivia night tonight, the halftime question was about the US territories, and I crushed it. It was just to name them, but still.

Tempted to put this post on a slide for my fall intro class.

Now I’m reading about Eunji’s efforts at driving a truck and recruiting participants at county flea markets, including wearing a donkey Halloween mask. More of this in political science, please.

I just finished the first chapter of “The American Mirage” by @eunjikim.bsky.social and it is one of the most engaging works I’ve read in a long time. Eager to read the rest. Thank you, Eunji! press.princeton.edu/books/hardco...

Hey #psychology folks. Can you point me to your favorite research on perception, especially, anything that explores why some people have a better attention to detail than others? And how we might improve attention to detail? Thx! @brendannyhan.bsky.social @dtwuva.bsky.social @galesinatra.bsky.social
