Who else is having crisis-induced dreams/nightmares? Last night, I dreamt I accidentally tripped a pregnant Ivanka Trump, got charged and hauled into court, then charges were dismissed because she was bending the truth. Later, drones started dropping bombs on Manhattan.

I spoke with Omar El Akkad. "There are battlefields in which human beings in solidarity with one another hold immense advantages, ones that the state or the institution cannot mimic: joy, love, compassion." www.thestar.com/opinion/cour...

A great piece @davebidini.bsky.social wrote for us about hockey, unity and defiance www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

I would like to point out that without Mitch Marner, this series might have ended much differently: he scored the winner in overtime in game 1, and he was the first assist for McDavid in the series-winning overtime game. He deserves more credit! #unsunghero #MitchMarner #fournations #4nations

Mitchie and McDavid!!! #4Nations #FourNations

Wayne Gretzky has just lost all claims to Canada. #4Nations #FourNations

Hockey is great. Fighting ALS is even better. I know - my brother is living with it. Here's a way for hockey fans to support: www.alssuperfund.ca

I love hockey. And this start is shameful. #fournations

The fabulous @lizrenzetti.bsky.social wrote about the US/women's rights/and overreach. www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

The wonderful @caseyplett.bsky.social wrote this for the Star. Powerful words in these unsettling times. www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

Actual question: anyone want to write an analysis/op-ed of the current climate re DEI from Canada? Less concerned with an explicit "defence" of DEI than situating its utility and downsides vs. its current demonization.

"...Zuckerberg returned ... for a full day of mediation. Trump was present ... though he stepped out at one point to be sentenced—appearing virtually—for covering up hush money paid to a porn star .... He also golfed, reappearing in golf clothes and talking about the round he had just played..."

I appreciate all the people recommending the Shock Doctrine. I've been thinking about what makes Trump's use of these tactics a little different. In recent decades, shock tactics were used mainly to rapidly impose neoliberal economic policies. But what Trump is doing goes way beyond that. a 🧵

Writing-wise, most ridiculous moment of decade was as writer-guest for a workshop held at someone's house. During the workshop, I got a massive headache & asked for aspirin. Someone gave me aspirin after which I began to itch. "Sorry--gave u my anti-itching pills by mistake." 1/?

We at The Chestnut Review are trying to raise $1,000 to subsidize a spot in our 2025 retreat, which will be held in Riga, Latvia. While a writing retreat can be transformative, it's also cost prohibitive for many. Please consider donating if you can: fundraising.fracturedatlas.org/chestnut-rev...
