Every college student, particularly those with financial need, take note:

Economic policy uncertainty is higher than it was after 9/11. Only the pandemic was higher in modern times.

With the news today, I had the most gallows humor laugh remembering the folks who were concerned that I was going too far saying I don't have faith that federal financial aid happens next year. Allegedly half the employees at ED fired. How could financial aid possibly go smoothly?

Equally valuable, equally unaffordable. Costs of child care now outpace college tuition in 38 states, analysis finds iowacapitaldispatch.com/2025/03/09/c...

Oh, world, I am so sorry. This is not who we are.

The scene at the Iowa capitol today as the Lege cuts civil rights from transgender people. The largest protest in Iowa capitol history.

Holey rusted metal, Batman! Paradise episode 7 😱😱

15 years ago, I could point to stuff like the state Supreme Court upholding gay marriage as justification to incredulous family back in MN for staying in #Iowa after graduating ISU. I suppose it’s anywhere we would have settled our family in the US now, but it’s really heartbreaking.

Who are your go to news sources?

So sad to see how legacy media is all in the pocket. One day after attacks on @washingtonpost.com opinion pages, my fav morning host (!) is elevating the man responsible with a space trip. So sad. Is there anyone left? Reading 52 blogs on questionable formats is not a feasible daily news diet.

So professional. Announcing university cuts via twitter. iowastatedaily.com/312789/news/...

Because that makes sense.

💥 BREAKING: At John Deere's annual shareholders meeting today, shareholders overwhelmingly rejected an anti-DEI proposal brought by the same group that targeted Costco and Apple. An anti-DEI proposal from the NCPPR received less than 1 percent of votes. Deere shareholders: DEI is in. Bigots are out

“I think it’s abominable that we’re going to potentially be the first state in the nation to take away civil rights protections that already exist in our code,” Democratic Rep. Sami Scheetz told LV. Rep. Steve Holt, who introduced HSB 242, is also the chair of both committees that approved it.

To comply with anti-DEI state law, this week the University of Iowa dissolved the Council on the Status of Women, African American Council, and 6 other campus diversity councils. dailyiowan.com/2025/02/17/e...

Just typed Halifax as Halifaz and that may be my new favorite city. Apologies to Nova Scotia. And Canada. 🇨🇦

The DOGE firings have nothing to do with “efficiency” or “cutting waste.” They’re a direct push to weaken federal agencies perceived as liberal. This was evident from the start, and now the data confirms it: targeted agencies overwhelmingly those seen as more left-leaning. 🧵⬇️
