🧪Holy shit. The Covid.gov website directs to the WH website claiming that covid came from a lab leak. And they are blaming Anthony Fauci. And calling the NIH a failure. I am utterly speechless. Anti-science propaganda running its wheels in real time.

We've just finished scything the reed in "car park fen" (so named given its proximity to a hospital car park). This area is still being restored, and will likely need cutting twice more this year. Looking forward to seeing which seeds we spread last year germinate! #OxfordshireFens #FenResoration 🌍

This Sunday, the whole country needs to spring forward from 1939.

Tadaa.

Wow. When CNN reached out to multiple experts in doxxing, cyber bullying, and online abuse they refused to speak on the record for fear of themselves becoming a target of Elon Musk. Wow. This is where we’re @ ?! /1 www.cnn.com/2024/11/27/b...

The @Nature journal asked 6 biomedical scientists for a brief description for what should be the US gov't priority now. This was my response www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Healthcare workers didn’t have a problem masking prior to COVID. Especially in NICU, oncology, transplant and/or around vulnerable patients I never received pushback. Now ALL I get is pushback Masks were made political & the patients suffer. Wear a mask. It’s the right thing to do.

Absolutely!!

Those kinds of ideas and credentials wouldn’t fly in any other professional context. But as we know, the media’s normalization plan for the coming sh*tstorm is well underway. It’s all about the clicks. To hell with democracy and public wellbeing.

The Independent (UK): "The conversations between Trump and foreign leaders have not been held on secure phone lines, there have been no State Department staff present to guide him on foreign policy matters, and there have been no official interpreters to clear up any possible misunderstandings."

I need this reminder on the regular.

Mass bleaching of corals on the Great Barrier Reef in early 2024 was the most severe and most widespread yet recorded - surpassing 1998, 2002, 2016, 2017, 2020 & 2022. The overall mortality rate this year will exceed the 30% loss in 2016. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Thank you!

The Tariff Act of 1930 was designed for protectionist trade. It imposed high tariffs on over 20,000 imported goods which led to retaliatory tariffs from other countries. Why am I telling you this? In case you're ever asked "what were the key contributors to the Great Depression?" The mo' you know

Jack Smith plans to release his final report on the federal investigations into Trump before Inauguration Day on January 20. It’s expected to detail Smith's findings on key cases, including allegations of election subversion and mishandling of classified documents.

Anger over Smith’s dismissals of the Trump cases is understandable, but it’s the only move he had. By filing preemptively, he keeps the cases alive for 2029. My thoughts in MSNBC Daily. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

Undocumented workers pay nearly $100B year in state and federal taxes, including: "$25.7 billion in Social Security taxes, $6.4 billion in Medicare taxes, and $1.8 billion in unemployment insurance taxes in 2022." Amount of services received for the payroll taxes paid? 0 itep.org/undocumented...

I feel more confident than ever that life as we know it is about to change drastically. Hold on tight, America. 😳

This week's USA COVID v. Influenza report October 2024: 53 Influenza deaths 3,253 COVID deaths (30x flu) 2024-to-date: 8,043 Influenza deaths 43,793 COVID deaths (5x flu) Preliminary November data suggests > 2,000 COVID deaths Wastewater trending up, again Re-skeet, please

Last wastewater readings found H5 bird flu in Los Angeles, Merced, Napa, San Francisco, Ontario, Palo Alto, Paso Robles, Redwood City, Riverside, Sacramento, San Diego, San Jose and Turlock.

This will be common in our new era. Republicans fail at governing and they will attempt to hide their failure by ending the gathering of data.

Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment. You still have to deal with everyone who doesn't have any.

New research shows younger and middle-aged adults have worse long COVID symptoms than older adults "On an average of 10 months after COVID-19 onset, younger (ages 18-44) and middle-aged (ages 45-64) adults had worse neurologic symptoms of long COVID than adults 65 and older." #LongCOVID

Crazy Venus fact

Ron is correct. If you are terrified of the man you are supposed to be aggressively covering, retire. That television slot can be taken by someone with a spine.

I hope their corporate overlords realize that this will only alienate their viewers, readers and listeners and will buy them nothing from Trump who will see only weakness. www.axios.com/2024/11/19/l...

I truly wouldn’t care if a man dressed like the king of England was in the urinal next to me. I get that for extremely online rightwingers, a trip to a public bathroom might be the most memorable moment of the day, but the rest of us truly do not give a shit who is peeing nearby.

What kind of convoluted, pretzel-brain bullshit is this? If the US was invading Mexico, I would fully expect Mexico to use any weapons they had at their disposal. If Russia doesn’t want to be bombed, the simple answer is to get the fuck out of Ukraine.

Followup: yes, I also like science books. Loved "she has her mother's laugh" by Zimmer, Love space, analysis of disasters, nature books, etc. Under normal circumstances I read at least one book a week.

I am one of 100s of scientists in the the World that is Watching the U.S. Deal With Bird Flu, and It’s Scary! Today, my opinion piece on the NY Times. Let's hope we take more serious epidemics and pandemics and deal with them before they emerge. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/19/o...

Friends, I need some help. I have been unable to immerse myself in a fiction book (Scifi, Mystery) since the election. Been just playing games on my phone. Need some suggestions. Love Ann Leckie, Cherryh, open to mystery authors, but not dark, please. Thank you in advance.

Hi ALL! I just watched SPIRITED (2022) WOW. A Christmas musical with outstanding dancing and marvelous songs. It embodies, I think, what we are trying to do here- make ripples that can turn into waves, one small action at a time. Stay Strong
