This statement about the transphobic Supreme Court ruling by the UK's Crab Museum (yes a museum about crabs) is better than 99% of the statements I've seen on the topic www.crabmuseum.org/visit 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀

🟧 Katherine Swampy has been nominated as the NDP candidate in Leduc-Wetaskiwin. Swampy is a former Samson Cree Band Councillor and previously ran for the federal NDP in Edmonton Centre in 2019 and the Alberta NDP in Maskwacis-Wetaskiwin in 2023.

#OtD 1 Apr 1982 oil company Exxon made a private report on CO2. It showed burning fossil fuels would cause global warming which may be irreversible and could be detectable by 1995. They then spent $31m to spread false propaganda claiming the opposite stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/8039...

edmontonjournal.com/opinion/colu... UCP funding of Charter Schools is up by 42%…funding 70% now. No other province funds Charter Schools at all. On top of that, for the first time govt is BUILDING 9 new Charter Schools. UCP - Destroying Public Education.

Congratulations! @cupescfp.bsky.social local 3484 on a remarkable victory that seemed unattainable just weeks ago. These brave workers, who are predominantly women and whom I am proud to call my colleagues, have put everything on the line to fight for the rights of all of us and our students.

It's not right. It's not just. It's not fair. But we won't let the UCP get away with ignoring some of the hardest-working people in this province. I’m proud to stand with them. youtube.com/shorts/ne6oW...

Today, people will demonstrate in solidarity with Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist at Columbia University. DHS has kidnapped him and revoked his green card. Some demonstrators will be distributing this flier. You can print out copies here yourself: crimethinc.com/zines/rememb... Resist.

For no reason in particular, found myself looking up what Jack London had to say about scabs. How did that go again? Oh yeah

The premier should not attend this event, let alone speak at it. 🔴Prager is a well-known disinformation outlet. 🔴Shapiro is a well-known bigot. 🔴Florida is at the heart of our trade war with the United States. This is a bad idea.

@billybragg.bsky.social 6000 Education workers in Alberta are striking because they love their jobs. They love helping kids, keeping schools safe, and making sure classrooms function. But they can’t keep doing it for poverty wages. Hiring scabs and refusing to Bargain in good faith .

Easy to lose this in the noise of the day, but the prime minister of Canada just said the US president, leader of the global hegemon, wants to soften us up economically so he can annex us. That is one of the most remarkable statements, and realities, in our history.

Since leaving Twixxer, my reach has declined. Please spread the word if you are inclined: After two weekends of being preempted due to building maintenance, Fervor Coulee's Rootsicana & Bluegrass is back live Sunday at 2 Mountain with two hours of the best of roots and 'grass on @cjsrfm.bsky.social

I promise you that doing something about it, however small, will make you feel better than posting about it.

Apparently, the solution to despair, dehumanization, and isolation is just more dehumanization and isolation.

All power to @cupescfp.bsky.social 3484 as they hit the picket line today in Leduc and throughout the Black Gold School Division 💪💪 (photo sent to me)

Great bit of news.

A focus on meeting needs is a lot more revolutionary than it reads, at first glance. And, it's a change that is coming whether we like it or not.

For a nation living in fear of a neighbour's aggression, there ought to be some self-awareness about how we're treating our other neighbours here.

There's tons of evidence that EAs help develop better educated, better adjusted students (who then become better adults). Anecdotally, my son has benefitted incredibly from a series of kind and hardworking support staff. This is important work.

The gap between First Nations and non-First Nations life expectancy in Alberta is 19 years, and wider now than any other point on record. This is a provincial and national emergency. #ableg www.stalbertgazette.com/local-news/f...

Everyone please stop arguing for a minute and listen to @margaret.bsky.social! #Solidarity is the only way out. None of us are perfect and all of us are needed. margaretkilljoy.substack.com/p/shoving-at...

The final domino squishes he person, which is appropriate.

Fuck me, this is lazy. I'd be embarrassed to put my name on something like this. ..."The group says the memos are each built around ideas from participating entrepreneurs, which are expanded upon using AI large language models before being reviewed by “seasoned policy experts".

Some words from some Christians about the horror of new Albertan laws. northernspiritrc.ca/executive-le...

I really like this.

This is a government without a backbone, able to be bullied into potentially catastrophic (and deeply unpopular) policy by threats from mining interests. Speaking professionally for a moment, two $16-billion lawsuits pale in comparison to the future environmental and health liabilities.

Really prescient writing. The way forward is to try something. Anything. It doesn't matter if it doesn't work. Good ideas will flourish and bad ideas will fizzle. Mistakes will be made, but mistakes are how we learn.

It speaks to the continuing acceptance of fascism that the onus is on accusers to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was a seig heil and not on Musk to prove that it wasn't. That a group like the ADL can't even give a positive yes is even worse.

Breaking. Minister Jean lifts the coal moratorium. No doubt a response to the compensation claims. static.aer.ca/prd/document... #ableg #abpoli

This is just such a creatively bankrupt statement, to the point where you have to wonder if there's something deeply psychologically broken in him. Enemies, indeed.

Making a prediction here: Smith, O'Leary, and their ilk are going to broker and promote a deal that "protects Canadian sovereignty" that will end up selling our resources off and selling out the rest of us. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
