The claims that McIver, Padilla, and Lander were committing assault should make you question every other time LEOs claim assault or resisting arrest, if you weren’t already.

Claiming he "assaulted law enforcement" is so obviously belied by the video, which shows no such thing.

I feel like the conversation around Defund in New York is missing the point - The NYPD wasn't defunded, but the cops responded as thought it was, refusing to do their jobs and creating the appearance that they were was to the incurious. Here's the data from traffic enforcement:

the fact that armed, formally fascist party paramilitaries provide official security for the Oregon Republican Party has gone completely unremarked

I wrote about how the 2020 protests hurt Trump politically. I also wrote about how counternarratives about left-wing violence are just spin — and wildly at odds with the reality of extremist violence. Gift link: wapo.st/3SOEv6e

The Minnesota shooter apparently used data broker websites to find the home addresses of the people he shot and murdered. Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again. Their inaction is deadly.

What exactly is it about internet right-wingers that make them ride so hard for countries that go 0-1 in wars. Nazi Germany. Confederacy. Rhodesia. I mean Mussolini at least beat Ethiopia. He had a .500 batting average, and it’s like that makes them all allergic to him.

We’re announcing new legislation — the No Secret Police Act (SB 627) — to ban local/state/federal law enforcement, w/ some exceptions, from covering their faces when interacting w/ the public & require them to wear identifying info. The secret police behavior we’re seeing destroys trust & must end🧵

It is difficult to imagine any circumstances in which the assassination of one democratic lawmaker and the attempted assassination of another is not fascist violence, calculated to suppress political resistance to a fascist project. At this point I am not going to try.

mommy peach #art #mkw

“A deranged maniac impersonated a police officer and killed lawmakers but if you’re an immigrant be sure you immediately comply with plain clothes people who won’t identify themselves telling you to get in a van”, what a fuckin country

The sheer, seething, blood-boiling hatred you could feel for Trump and his pack of Nazi rapists and murderers at that rally, with many signs calling them this more or less explicitly, is waiting, just waiting, for someone to really tap it

What a contrast: On the one hand, one grandiose spectacle in the nation's capital, a panorama of propaganda put on by an aspiring autocrat. On the other hand, thousands of assemblies of free citizens across the nation, authentic celebrations of the proposition that here the people rule.

I really think Noem’s plans to “liberate” California from its democratically elected government with military force should not have gotten lost in the news cycle but that appears to be exactly what is happening

if the other site goes all in on false flag stuff after this guy turns out to be a right wing freak, you think we'll still see "bluesky is an echo chamber" nonsense takes

because America is so lax about unmarked cop cars and its state agents love using them so much, it’s impossible to say whether this is an ex-cop car, a current cop car, or just a regular Ford Explorer with steelies and a light bar plopped on it.

We have entered the "The police is saying that if the police is at your door you are not safe call the police immediately" stage of making America great again

Whoever wins in 2028 must commit to dissolving ICE in the same manner that Trump + Musk deleted USAID. Instantly and with no mercy the instant after inauguration

Trump has not only symbolically condoned political violence, he's *materially enabled it* with the powers of his office by officially pardoning the traitors against America of the January 6th insurrection. Every other unhinged right-wing lunatic can see that and do the math

The idea that this political violence is the consequence of people on both sides cheering it on seems like a sympathetic point but just doesn’t hold up to history. In my adult life, I’ve seen people on the right do everything from kill politicians to kill regular citizens, and it’s shrugged off.

When Stephen Miller gave the orders to ICE to conceal identity, Miller helped get these elected officials shot. He’s complicit in these attacks. Impeach, remove, prosecute, imprison.

Obama and Biden both failed to do anything about right wing extremists and the big change we need is someone willing to use the state to confront and dismantle their networks, including using state force. For this to be successful it won’t look very “liberal.”

The blood of the Hortman's is directly on Trump's hands. Not just Trump either but the entire far-right media ecosystem that pushes that Schmittian narrative 24/7 that Democrats, liberals, progressives and socialists are all "traitors". They killed the Hortman's as much as the gunman did.

There is no solution to this for a democrat or left politician besides being armed, and a complete distrust of law enforcement. Republicans speak of blood and hate and kill people, I don’t want to hear Democrat politicians respond with words anymore now that it’s one of theirs

For half a decade, right wingers have screamed “the Rubicon has been crossed” over every minor grievance and excruciatingly rare instance where a fascist goon were convicted of a crime. This is an actual Rubicon. The return of Jim Crow political terror unleashed in the name of whiteness.

anyone who works for ICE is a bad person imagine clocking in at the child traumatization factory every morning and thinking that’s an acceptable thing to do as a human being just unconscionable

“The era of procrastination, of half-measures, of soothing and baffling expedients, of delays is coming to its close. In its place we are entering a period of consequences.” ― Winston Churchill, 1936

The "I'll lower costs and get us out of endless wars" candidate is now presiding over surging costs and brand new wars.
