It's simple, really: Knowing that their purchases are being affected directly by Trump's policies causes painful cognitive dissonance, so they'd rather not know. As long as they can hide from the truth about it, they can lie to themselves and pretend it's Biden's fault somehow.

My break from the news yesterday resulted in a surprise new personal coding project, the first one I've had in a while. The stack is mostly NestJS, Prisma, Angular, and Tailwind + DaisyUI (using the retro theme as a foundation). The whole thing is managed with yarn workspaces. Fun!

Yesterday, I disconnected. No social media, no news, no doom-scrolling. Instead, I focused my energies on learning French (a long-term goal) and a personal coding project. Today, I feel more able to deal with the world productively. I'll be doing this on Sundays from now on.
