We should expect the President to fire senior military officials for incompetence or failure to follow orders (exactly why Harry Truman sacked MacArthur). But purging senior officers because they fail some political loyalty test—that’s what tyrants do. [1/2]

My colleague is exactly right that folks in places like Western PA are mad that the economy isn’t working for them. We cannot have government for corporate tycoons; we need a government of, by, and for the people who work hard and play by the rules. That’s the American dream we need to restore.

Our nation has a sacred promise to care for those who wore the uniform. The VA just fired (dismissed?) 1,000+ employees. I'm digging in on the impacts, especially at VA PGH. We should be strengthening not weakening the VA & it's workforce of public servants, many of whom are veterans themselves.

Medicaid covers 38% of healthcare for kids, and around 20% Allegheny County and Beaver County residents use Medicaid for their healthcare. The Republican budget proposal would take a sledgehammer to Medicaid, gutting the healthcare of kids, people with disabilities, and so many others. [1/2]

After the Norfolk Southern derailment hurt my Beaver Co constituents, there was a lot of tough talk about not forgetting East Palestine. Now, 2yrs later, politicians afraid of the railroads are still carrying water for their corporate bosses & strangling rail safety bills like mine. Grow a spine!

We're hearing a lot of talk about cutting government fraud, waste, and abuse. I'm all for that. But I haven’t seen any interest in cuts in the place where there is a heck of a lot of waste and price gouging—where they could get bipartisan buy-in from guys like me...the Pentagon! 🧵 (1/10)

I'm all for making government more efficient, but it makes no sense to let criminal corporations & scammers off the hook. I went to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's HQ in Washington this week and I’ll keep fighting to stop this consumer watchdog from being illegally shut down.

After the Pres. announced a federal hiring freeze, I asked VA Pittsburgh about any impacts. They shared they'd be requesting exemptions for positions impacted by the freeze. I stand ready to help the VA get the staff they need so my fellow Western PA vets receive the great care they've earned.

The Trump Admin is trying to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the consumer watchdogs that have gone after rip-off junk fees and put $21 billion back into Americans' pockets. I guess grifters, crooks, and robber barons want the cops on the block defunded. Weak and pathetic.

When railroads break the rules, they should get more than just a slap on the wrist. We need to increase fines to force them to respect our communities. That's part of my new Railway Safety Act. Monday marks 2yrs since Norfolk Southern's derailment in East Palestine. We need to pass this bill now.
