Has anyone made a good waste fraud and abuse graphic where it's Vance Musk and Trump that I can put on facebook? If you already have it there I'll give you a share

We talked to employees across the federal government about how they are resisting Musk and Trump. One of the funnier stories is from USDS, where some workers keep putting up a sign that reads "HATE HAS NO HOME HERE" after it's being taken down over night. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/u...

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Billionaires like Elon Musk are working overtime to raise taxes & costs for working families. Meanwhile, Musk’s company, Tesla, avoided almost all federal income tax on nearly $11 billion of U.S. income over 3 years.

Elon Musk is gaining access to sensitive personal information through the Department of Education, including Social Security numbers, tax returns, and more. An unelected billionaire has no right to exploit confidential information.

"Only 34% approve of what Musk is doing Only 26% are OK with him shutting down govt programs And a whopping 63% don’t like Musk’s marauders gaining access to federal government databases containing Social Security, Medicare and tax information" www.azcentral.com/story/opinio...

My mom helped run a Social Security field office for most of my childhood. The population that these locations serve is overwhelmingly disabled, elderly, poor or some combination thereof. That’s who they’re looking to deny services and resources.

"Leland Dudek, a data analyst working in a small anti-fraud office, was suspected of sharing unauthorized access to information with representatives of Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service. Now he’s the acting Social Security commissioner." wapo.st/41qBKwR

I talked to the only Department of Education Office for Civil Rights investigator in Alabama, who was terminated in DOGE cuts, for @motherjones.com. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Gift link. A small unelected, secretive crew now has free access to sensitive private data of everyone. And Musk is already publicly targeting family members of judges who rule against the administration. If this isn’t ringing alarm bells, I don’t know what would. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/o...

I don’t normally engage with propagandised fools but when I do, I try to out-propaganda them because they are genuinely so silly.

Oh FFS, New York Times, this isn't to "root out diversity initiatives", it's just plain firing people, including the highest ranking officers, who ain't white guys.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

As a political scientist who studies countries that managed to stop the slide into authoritarianism, I can assure you that ***refraining from provoking the authoritarian*** is not how it works. Without further ado, I will now go tear out another chunk of hair.

This is how it’s done.

AP could have been cowardly and rolled over for Trump. “We had to comply or we’d lose [funding/access/privileges]” like so many orgs are doing. It would have been easy for them to say “gulf of America” But it never stops there. They got the memo. Good job AP.

I hope it goes without saying that this goes doubly for purged military officers

Gov. Mills showed precisely the sort of integrity in the face of political pressure that the majority of the party currently lacks. More importantly, she did so extemporaneously and without hesitation from a purple state where this isn't a universally popular position. www.maine.gov/governor/mil...

New York Times asking "also" to do some heavy lifting there...

🚨🚨 Oh, that went well: Russia used the first round of talks with the US over ending the war in Ukraine to demand the withdrawal of Nato forces from the alliance’s eastern flank, suggesting Trump admin could acquiesce to seal a peace deal according to Romanian government.🧵 www.ft.com/content/ac1d...

Don't let the bluster and bravado create its own truth. We're seeing over-reach which will have such complex and widespread blowback and consequences, here, there, and everywhere, that the incompetents at the top will be overwhelmed and eventually brought low, as they should be.

Don't be wowed or depressed by the bluster. It's not going well with the people.

I'm gonna keep reposting examples of people not taking shit because it's important for us to see that you can, simply, reject the shit. Say "Uh... no no no, we will not be tolerating that."

Always stand up to a bully

If there's one thing to call about for the next several days, it's this: early next week the house will be voting on a budget resolution that decimates Medicaid. This is an immediate life-and-death issue for so many, and the GOP House majority is razor-thin. Call early and often. And pass it on.

Democratic governors should have all walked out together midway through that meeting but especially after Trump's attack on Gov. Janet Mills. I don't know why they didn't. Makes no sense.

During my long years of fieldwork, I should have made more diligent prayers to Homobonus of Cremona for whom church doors miraculously opened.

It was a moment of defiance of which we can all be proud, and we can all praise Governor Mills. What was "stunning" and shameful was the pathetic display of bullying by this sick, mean-spirited, vile, lying buffoon of a president we've inflicted on ourselves and on the world. His days will end.

Maine Governor Janet Mills shows more spine in 30 seconds than the entire GOP combined in the last 9 years. Good for her defying this attempt by Trump to illegally coerce her. This is how you make wannabe strongmen look weak youtube.com/shorts/Jmn_I...

We need more elected officials like Gov. Mills. Bullies hate it when you stand up to them. thehill.com/homenews/sta...

More of this, Democrats, governors, public officials, citizens, everyone. Push the big bully back, push him back. Relentlessly. We will win.

Governor Mills doesn’t suffer fools lightly, and it appears she has even less tolerance for bullies. (And as a former attorney general, she knows what she’s talking about.)

I don't think people really get how these employee purges are just going to break the culture of public organizations for a very long time.

Happening now: protesters are outside the Fine Arts Building on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago this evening. People are in line to see House of Reps Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for an event tonight promoting his recently released book. Crowd chanting at them, "we don't need a book tour!"

Also and not for nothing, vote by mail

Again I am begging people in the media to note the legality of these actions in their headlines or blurbs. A post office is literally written into the constitution.
