The Senate voted 51-49 to confirm Kash Patel as the next FBI director. Patel, a staunch Trump loyalist, is a known election denier and has made comments about exacting political revenge against his enemies.

"In his first term, Trump failed to build a wall. He failed to marshal the resources from Congress, failed to gain a consensus of American opinion and failed at everything administrations do in a democracy to advance policy."

Since taking office, Trump has been trying to advance the unitary executive theory, a fringe legal theory that asserts that the president has unlimited power to control the actions of the four million people who make up the executive branch.
