The Illinois Supreme Court denied a Republican challenge to Illinois state house districts. Republicans argued the map was a partisan gerrymander that created an unfair advantage for Democrats.

“[The SAVE Act] would seriously impede the convenience that people have come to count on and the operative concept that registration should be easy for voters,” @justinlevitt.bsky.social , Loyola Marymount University law professor, explains.

NEW from @billycorriher.bsky.social Jefferson Griffin isn't the first losing judicial candidate to ask state courts to retroactively change election rules. In 1994, federal courts stepped in to stop a similar challenge in Alabama. They should do the same in North Carolina now.
