Trump’s executive order against gender identity locked Census Bureau workers out of the system and froze access to data. Some data may have even been deleted in the scramble. We cannot stand for this data censorship, or Trump’s “alternative facts” will soon be all we have. bit.ly/4i75zrL

“We must not be silent.” John Lewis’ words in 2012 warning of a renewed attack on voting rights remain true today, on what would be his 85th birthday.

To be clear, the SAVE Act does not include a marriage license as acceptable documentation for women to prove her name change.

What @johnbisognano.com said! 👏🗺️ No amount of millions or billions should allow Elon Musk to monopolize the American people’s census data.

Project 2025’s road map to absolute power is eerily similar to what Trump has done in his first weeks in office. If he sticks with it, the worst is yet to come. Do not trust him when he says he won’t implement the authoritarian regime it lays out. nyti.ms/4gOc0iv

NEW: Research shows the GOP’s attempt to overturn Justice Riggs’ NC Supreme Court win disproportionately impacts voters. Young voters are 3.4x more likely than seniors to be challenged, and young Black voters are 5.28x more likely than white men 65+ among those with “incomplete registrations.”

In a policy move pulled straight from Project 2025, Trump is making drastic cuts to CISA—a crucial resource for election cybersecurity. Undermining cybersecurity puts every vote, and every voter, at risk. But it seems the GOP is not interested in keeping our elections safe. bit.ly/4aZW5w9

Last Friday, the Wake County Superior Court upheld the state Board of Elections' decision affirming the victory of Allison Riggs. This week, her opponent appealed the case to the state Court of Appeals. Enough is enough. It's time to respect the will of the voters and move forward. bit.ly/4b2epoI

The U.S. Constitution mandates a decennial census to count all residents, regardless of citizenship or immigration status. But President Trump seems intent on escalating his tactics to distort the census. Here’s how we got here and why the fight for a fair count matters. 🧵🗺️

Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire, is peddling baseless voter fraud claims to prop up a far-right candidate for Wisconsin’s Supreme Court. Apparently, reshaping the federal government to fit his own agenda wasn’t enough—now he’s interfering in state elections too. bit.ly/4gCvfM2

The US Supreme Court, shaped by Trump with 3 handpicked justices, may now be the final arbiter of the most radical proposals of his agenda. This is the same court that has already enabled dangerous expansions of presidential power. We must stay committed in our fight to reform SCOTUS.

Both an AL district court and the Supreme Court agree: a proper enforcement of Section 2 of the VRA requires Alabama to include *two* Black opportunity districts. The current legal battle over the new map is a challenge to the principle of self-determination at the ballot box. bit.ly/41bz06s

Acknowledging our history is the foundation of our fight for a better future—and Black History is American history. This and every month, we honor the invaluable contributions Black Americans have made to shaping our nation and our culture.

This grows in absurdity minute by minute -- Judge Griffin must accept that he lost this race. The Wake County court acted as it should to protect voters' rights and put people over partisan interests -- more courts should follow this example.

BREAKING: The Wake County NC Court has shut down Judge Jefferson Griffin’s baseless efforts to throw out votes after his failed bid to unseat Justice Allison Riggs. Griffin needs to stop challenging the results of an election he clearly lost & wasting taxpayer resources—it's time for him to concede.

Today, a Wake County court is hearing a baseless, GOP-backed attempt at throwing out 60K votes in the North Carolina Supreme Court Race. We urge the court to protect the electoral process and pave the way for the rightful certification of Justice Riggs’ victory.

In his @nytopinion.nytimes.com essay, @ericholder.bsky.social highlights how the attempt by North Carolina Republicans to reverse Justice Riggs' victory is reflective of a party that thinks neither the rule of law nor the will of the people applies to them. Read more: nyti.ms/4guflDm

The Trump 2.0 era underscores the importance of the work we're doing right now. At a time when our democracy faces relentless attacks, there is no doubt that our fight for fairness is going to be hard. But like those who stood for justice before us, we have no choice but to take the fight head-on.

Plans for Valentine's Day? Have a 🍸 with us on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Heist Brewery with @anitaearls.bsky.social and @abreezeclayton.bsky.social 💘 Your support will help us power key races including the Senate, Supreme Court & Court of Appeals that will shape our future. ncdp.org/valentine

The GOP-sponsored SAVE Act isn’t about “saving” democracy. The legislation’s proof-of-citizenship requirements could disproportionately affect married women who change their names, young voters, and people of color. For them, it’s about disenfranchising millions of American voters. ampr.gs/3CEnmYk

If you support pardons for those who violated the law and tried to overturn a free & fair election, you shouldn’t be running for state supreme court—or any role where it is your responsibility to uphold the rule of law. bit.ly/4jN1hI0

16 years ago today, our Chairman, @ericholder.bsky.social was sworn in as the first Black Attorney General of the United States. #blackhistorymonth

The upcoming WI State Supreme court election will shape the future of abortion rights, gerrymandering, and clean energy in the state. Judge Crawford needs your support, so join AG @ericholder.bsky.social TONIGHT at 7PM EST for a virtual fundraiser: www.givegreen.com/bcrawfordevt...

The headline speaks for itself. There is only one candidate in Wisconsin’s State Supreme Court Race who recognizes a woman’s right to bodily autonomy—and it’s Judge Susan Crawford. bit.ly/3Q1WyEE

Today, a Utah Court is hearing a lawsuit challenging the legislature's decision to override a voter-approved independent redistricting commission by implementing their own congressional map. The court should mandate the creation of a fair map. bit.ly/4hDGSD5

Fair maps serve more than an electoral purpose — they shape the resources our communities receive. Anything short of a fair and accurate count can mean fewer resources for those who need them most, especially communities of color, rural areas, and low-income neighborhoods.

As I said in the @nationaljournal.com, when asked how we would measure success: “Giving all parties access and ability to compete on their ideas, as opposed to maps that draw one party into and/or out of power, is going to be the way that we try and measure success,” he said.

The U.S. Census isn’t just a headcount. It’s a tool for fairness, ensuring every person, in every community gets the representation and resources they need. But President Trump just paved the way to undermine this process by enabling an inaccurate census count. bit.ly/4aFt7kY

BREAKING: In an alarming hot-mic moment, Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Brad Schimel claimed that reclaiming political power in America might require a "bloody revolution." Let’s call this what it is: an attempt to justify political violence in service of a radical, far-right agenda.

"A Republican court candidate in North Carolina wants to toss out thousands of votes." Republican Jefferson Griffin continues on his sore loser tour... www.npr.org/2025/01/27/n...

Our democratic institutions are supposed to serve the people — not special interests. It’s time to #ReformTheCourt. @brennancenter.bsky.social has a new essay out featuring insights on court reform from historians and political experts. Check it out! ⬇️ bit.ly/4gxTomZ

Republican Attorneys General from Ohio, Louisiana, West Virginia, and Kansas are trying to require the Census Bureau to 1) exclude undocumented and temporary residents from apportionment, and 2) to add a two-part citizenship question to the 2030 and subsequent censuses.

President Trump revoked an executive order affirming the inclusion of all residents in the census count, which would disrupt fair redistricting and harm minority communities. We cannot let radical agendas undermine the foundation of fair representation.

NEW: NDRC & AG @ericholder.bsky.social are proud to endorse Doron Clark for the Minnesota State Senate! State legislatures are our first line of defense against the MAGA agenda. Elect @doronclark.bsky.social for MN SD 60 to help ensure fair redistricting and a stronger, more democratic Minnesota! 🗳💪

NEW—AG @ericholder.bsky.social + the NDRC are proud to endorse @crawfordforwi.bsky.social for the Wisconsin Supreme Court! ⚖️ Judge Susan Crawford has dedicated her career to protecting the rights + freedoms of citizens—and will be an excellent justice who will preserve the court’s balanced approach.

We echo our Executive Director, Marina Jenkins. Georgia Republicans are challenging fair voting districts as a way to undermine decades of Voting Rights Act precedent that protects voters and ensures equal access to the ballot. The 11th Circuit should reject their arguments. bit.ly/40LBus9

NORTH CAROLINA UPDATE: Last night the NC Supreme Court rejected Judge Griffin’s baseless attempt to throw out more than 65,000 votes. But this is still not over – his case will start over in Wake County Superior Court, delaying resolution for voters.

Today, the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals heard arguments in an appeal trying to undo Georgia's newly-drawn maps, which could have big implications for Section 2 of the VRA. As usual, this is about more than voting districts for the GOP — it's about dismantling what's left of the VRA.

👏🏼

🗳️All eyes on North Carolina! 🗳️ In the only unresolved 2024 race in the Tar Heel state, a GOP-backed challenge to 60K ballots threatens to set a dangerous precedent for future attempts to undermine elections. The stakes are enormous. bit.ly/4g7r0rs
