Went to the #KingGeorge #FarmersMarket this morning to support my sister's new enterprise, Memorial Mushrooms. I bought a hunk of #LionsMane #mushrooms, brought it home, shredded it up, and made tacos. Absolutely scrumptious!

Am I the only one feeling like we've been in a reactive posture for the last few months? It seems like every time we have a meeting, and someone asks a question, the responses are, "We've just gotta get through it" or "Maybe in the next 60-90 days we'll have some clarity."

I am one of those probationary employees whose head is on the chopping block. I've been a federal employee 5 years, but at my current job less than 1. My work has been exemplary as performance appraisals, merit based raises, and awards can attest. I won't give up without a fight! #FedWorkersUnite

Black History Month day 12 Even if you're a hockey fan like me, you probably don't know Willie O'Ree. In 1958, he donned a Boston #Bruins jersey and became the first black #NHL player. Sadly, his accomplishment didn't get any media coverage. www.originalhockeyhalloffame.com/news-events/...

Black History Month day 9 Sarah Boone, a black dressmaker in the 1800s, is credited with inventing the modern-day ironing board. While most of our clothes today don't require ironing, it was a daily task for most women in the early 20th century. www.biography.com/inventors/sa...

All this whole BS about removing Palestinians and relocating them somewhere else feels vaguely familiar. Like something I learned about in school. Give me second. It'll come to me. OH! Now I remember!!! It's the same thing the white man did to the Indigenous peoples when they came to the New World.

BHM Day 8 Before 1941, black soldiers couldn't be pilots. When America entered WWII, the Army began training them to fly. Benjamin Davis was part of the first graduating class and immediately became a commander for the first unit of Tuskegee Airmen. kids.nationalgeographic.com/history/arti...

Who else is feeling like there's nothing you can do about the shit that is our American government, so you're just sitting back and watching it implode? We warned them, and they voted for Trump anyway. #FAFO #ItsACoup

Black History Month day 7 Not really historic, but significant nonetheless... After watching Sally Ride, Mae Jemison decided to apply for the astronaut program at NASA. In September 1992, she became the first black woman to reach orbit. www.womenshistory.org/education-re...

Black History Month day 6 Dr. Charles Richard Drew pioneered methods for the long-term storage of blood plasma, but he's most notable for organizing the first large-scale blood bank. newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/b...

Is quiet firing a thing? My son works for Wendy's. He got sick a month or so ago, and since then, they were only giving him a day or two on the schedule. Then they would call him and tell him not to bother coming in. He's not scheduled next week, but they haven't told him he's fired.

This is ridiculous! My sister said she got a call from her HR person telling her the same thing. My boss is saying, "Don't worry because you work for the military, and they're exempt from all of this." I'm not taking any chances though.

Black History Month and Day 2 of black Americans you should know about: Shirley Chisholm was the first black woman to be elected to Congress during a time when segregation was still in full force. She served the New York 12th District from 1969 to 1983. history.house.gov/People/Detai...

28 Days of Black Americans you need to know about. On March 2, 1955, Claudette Colvin refused to give up her seat to a white woman and move to the back of the bus. This was nine months before Rosa Parks became well known for the same act. www.biography.com/activists/cl...

OK, you can't have it both ways, Donald. You can't stupidly brag about how you ended DEI to bring back safety at the FAA and then stupidly blame DEI the first time there is a crash on your watch.

Ladies, if you thought this DEI purge won't affect you, think again. My employer canceled all special observances, including Women's History Month. No Black History Month, No Native American History Month, No AAPI Month, No Hispanic Heritage Month. Under the new regime, it's all about the yt man.

I just did something I hate doing. I gave money to Walmart. I usually shop for groceries at Aldi, but I did a bit of comparison shopping today and everything I needed was cheaper at Walmart. I gave up on shopping at Giant a long time ago, because it's crazy expensive there.

I had a thought. What if the French decided we didn't deserve her anymore and came and took back the Statue of Liberty? If the last 5 days have told me anything, it's that this administration doesn't give two shits about the principles she stands for.

As an Army, and now a Navy, civilian, my oath was to uphold the Constitution, not to swear fealty to a wannabe dictator!

I am thrilled about this, but the credit for making it happen doesn't go to Trump. The House has had this sitting on their desk for at least a year. www.wmbfnews.com/2025/01/23/t...

I bought my boys a tent. The problem is I didn't get two, and they don't like to share. #cats

A while back, I applied for a media relations job at NASA. Today, I got an email saying that because of Trump's hiring freeze, they had to cancel the job order. I guess it's a good thing I accepted a job at NCIS.

I ran across the pilot for The Midnight Special from August 1972 on YouTube. That's some great music! youtu.be/itkwPhZFAHQ?... #ClassicRock #RockNRoll #MusicIsLife #Music

Good morning! Today is a celebration for ONE MAN, and one man ONLY! If all politicians could be a little more like this man… #Peace #Equality #Humanitarian #MLK

Like all my military friends, as a Navy civilian, I swore an oath to the Constitution. I will never bend the knee to #Felon47.

What's everyone watching instead of the inauguration? I'm watching a childhood classic. Dot and the Kangaroo #boycottTrump #Felon47
