What a wonderful evening of music and prose Raynor Winn and Saltlines. Gigspanner at The Plough Torrington

First bird on my garden list in the new house! Never had house Martin above my garden before

Son just moved to a new build in Hampshire, 30 seconds standing by front door, not a bad start for a garden list! @rspb.bsky.social @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social

Up in time for a beautiful sunrise at east creech, now off to work! @nhsmillion.bsky.social

2 Ospreys fishing over Wareham Channel and Middlebere from our boat this morning. Also Marsh Harrier food pass, 3 Red Kite, c400 BT Godwit, c20 Avocet and the Forster’s Tern on Brownsea. @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

Just got tickets for my favourite band next year at the Royal Albert Hall, @stornaway

We're going to get complaints from the guests about the din from our Little Owls before long: one of them has taken to using the Obs garage roof as its main calling perch and it just doesn't stop - it's currently been calling for nearly an hour and is still going strong!

Why do I get non stop pictures of cats in my feed. I can’t stand them! 🐕‍🦺🐾🐩🦮

back in my happy place volunteering RSPB Arne. lovely views of spoonbill from Shipstal hide, some lovely chats with visitors enjoying the sunshine and a great variety of bird song walking along the Shipstal trail and shoreline. @harbourbirds.bsky.social @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social @rspb.bsky.social

Not wildlife but the man that introduced me to it, even though we lived in the East End, my lovely dad. November 1966, front page news!! He is wearing black jacket. Very proud daughter. RIP 1999 in Australia suddenly

Hurray! Some good news for bees at last. Our new government has followed the science, and refused the application by sugar beet farmers to use banned neonicotinoid pesticides.

Lovely couple of hours at Blashford Lakes yesterday ✅ number 103 female red crested pochard, thanks to the birder who pointed her out. #wildlifetrust

We left a pair of Swarovski NL 10x42 on top of the car at East Chevington, Northumberland yesterday and then stupidly walked away, 5 minutes later we realised then returned but they were gone, I know it's a long shot but nobody on here picked them up and are trying to return them?

Lovely day exploring #devonwildlifetrust #meethquary goldcrest, marsh tits, LOTTI,goosander and many more, with breakfast #puffingbilly and cream tea at #fremingtonquay.

Flood Warning for Poole Harbour at Wareham

Flood Alert for Dorset coast at Poole Harbour

Sadly 2024 was one of the poorest breeding seasons for Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers since we started in 2015. Only 11 nests were found/monitored & on average only just over one young fledged per nest. This is probably not enough to sustain the population, www.woodpecker-network.org.uk/index.php/news

An impressive selection of birds 91 in 4 days in Dorset. Plenty of exercise too. Thanks for those that helped out, pointed us in right direction and to the expertise of @harbourbirds.bsky.social on bird boat, great start to the new year. Dorset, a good spot for birding! @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

Just totted up my 2024 UK totals 208 species, 9 lifers. Not bad considering I hardly went birdwatching since August due to other commitments. Favourite lifers were shore lark and waxwing. Many species located in Dorset plus Norfolk & E Yorkshire @harbourbirds.bsky.social @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

The end of a beautiful day, started on a bird boat and ending at Poole Park @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social @harbourbirds.bsky.social

@harbourbirds.bsky.social bird boat, brilliant as always thanks to the team!

Lovely selection of birds seen in Dorset today, RSPB Lodmoor, The Fleet and Portland. Including 3 snipe huddled together, little gull, ringed plover, marsh harrier, plus many more @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social
