Miriam Meisler will give our next #WWSC seminar on Feb 25th. Come and discuss Nav1.6 pathophysiology in epilepsy and treatment options: "Down-regulation of SCN8A by ASO or CRISPR-i prevents seizures in a GOF model". Visit www.sodiumchannelseminar.org for info and link. See you there!

Looking forward to welcoming @spinalcordgroup.bsky.social’s @davehughesgla.bsky.social to talk about all things spinal 😀 #neuroskyence #PainResearch

Submit your Poster Abstract for NeuPSIG 2025 in Berlin, Germany, by 3 March! Focus on neuropathic pain and itch, with emphasis on interdisciplinary investigations. Learn more: bit.ly/40r4Zz5

1/5 Are you interested in the role of Nav1.9 in AP generation? And what do all the other #sodiumchannels do in the nociceptor? In a study led by the MD student Phil Köster in the lab, we performed manual patch clamp on all Navs known to be expressed in sensory neurons. Nav1.1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9.

Hurray, another new PhD graduate from our Neuro-Immune Interactions in Health & Disease program - congratulations Yuening! A wonderful collaboration with @denklab.bsky.social on cytokines driving pain in Rheumatoid Arthritis #Arthritis #neuroimmune

Welcome to Bluesky @taamslab.bsky.social! Everyone - follow them for amazing #ImmunoSky #neuroimmune 🧪 🧠 content on #Arthritis, #Tcells and many other things. And of course, don't forget to read our latest review: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Please help us advertise this new opening 🧠 in our research group. I am happy to answer any queries about it.

Application deadline for 3 #neuroskyence / #PainResearch positions in our group is in 1-week - more info. 👇

check it out! our lab's first review paper is officially in print and was selected as an editor's choice at Pain! fun summary video in this link in case you don't feel like reading🦠💩🐁: journals.lww.com/pain/fulltex...

#FluorescenceFriday finally got some keloid scar sections to beautifully show their stromal and sensory neuron architecture! Green = FAP (fibroblasts), white = CD31 (endothelial cells), red = b3-tubulin, blue = DAPI. @denklab.bsky.social

Anyone interested in a PhD in pain research, we have a fully-funded position available in the Weir lab. www.findaphd.com/phds/project...

#FluorescenceFriday - a sensory neuron infected with an HSV amplicon - one of the first images I took as a postdoc all the way back in 2009.

All undergraduate/Master's students interested in #PainResearch #PainScience #ImmunoSky: here is a fully-funded PhD opportunity at the brilliant @uofglasgow.bsky.social www.findaphd.com/phds/project...

Pleased to be representing Geoff’s lab tomorrow at the Cambridge Tap talking about the nociceptive system, the role of clinical genetics and rare diseases in pain research and some new directions 👀

Anyone headed to Berlin this September? The Scientific Program Committee invites you to submit a poster abstract to be considered for presentation at the 9th International Congress on Neuropathic Pain. Abstracts due March 3rd, 2025. neupsigcongress.org #PainResearch #NeuPSIG #IASP

Reminder that we have an Associate or Full Professor position available for Biostats in our new Clinical Trial Research Center at UT Dallas - jobs.utdallas.edu/postings/28348 We are looking for an experienced scientist in designing and analyzing clinical trials.

It's #fluorescencefriday so here are some lovely TRMP8-expressing cold-sensing sensory neurons in a mouse DRG. DAPI nuclei in green and TRPM8 mRNA in magenta.

JOB ALERT FOR NEUROLOGY TRAINEES. On www.oriel.nhs.uk now. Academic Clinical Lecturer post in Dementia & Neurodegeneration @imperialbrains.bsky.social. Research can cover any aspect of the above. Please repost and feel free to contact me if interested (am at ABN SIG meeting today).

#FluorescenceFriday! Congrats to one of our very talented PhD students, Irene, who just stained her first stem-cell derived blood vessel organoid 🧪🧠🥳 #pericytes #neuroimmune #neuroskyence #PainResearch

Still time to register! Join us for A Session on S.U.R.F. on January 10, 2025 at 12 PM ET for an opportunity to learn more about these programs from current directors! Open to everyone, but particularly useful for undergraduates interested in research! tinyurl.com/4mzjyz9 🧪 #MedSky #Neuroscience

NINDS just launched a $50K prize competition for early-career scientists championing research rigor beyond their normal duties. Do you organize workshops, journal clubs, or do work to try and shift culture? This could be you. www.challenge.gov?challenge=ni...

Thanks 🙏🙏!! A team effort, with which we are hoping to get results that will help us better understand pain in #arthritis. #painscience #PainResearch #immunoskye 🧪🧠

New year, new job? In the context of visceral pain & naked mole-rats, we're recruiting 2 x PDRA and 1 x RA as detailed 👇 #neuroskyence #PainResearch

A very worthwhile program for young investigators. Do join us for a weekend of honing your grant writing skills.

Expression, function, and pharmacology of T-type channels in human DRG with evidence of very specific expression in a subtype of A-delta neurons. Happy to have contributed to this great work from Emmanuel Bourinet’s group. #painresearch

🚨 Excited to announce that we are hiring 🚨 If bowel disease, pain, & naked mole-rats are your thing then we have the perfect opportunity for you 😃 This ChatGPT image shows a naked mole-rat with visceral pain, but they actually appear resistant #PainResearch

Preprint alert: Using human microneurography protocols in PatchSeq experiments on pig DRGs we identify the molecular identity of human dermal CMi-fibers (sleeping nociceptors). We provide an integrated pig-human-more transcriptomic atlas and identify OSMR and SST as marker, backed by human expts.

Interesting systemic approach to record spinal cord activity and laser evoked potentials

If Vertex's premarket -12% stock move holds, it would trade near its 52-week low. Phase II readout for suzetrigine, its sodium channel analgesic, in sciatica patients: met efficacy endpoint compared with baseline, but didn't differentiate from placebo. #biosky $VRTX news.vrtx.com/news-release...

Interested in #PainResearch and/or mural cells (#pericyte #BloodBrainBarrier)? This one may be for you! Our latest #neuroskyence research suggesting that cells at the blood nerve barrier may be particularly replete with pain-inducing substances 🧪 #painscience: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
